  1. Pretty sure that this is our factory #21 Ferrari P entrant - owned by the Chinetti family - i photographed it at the Simeone Collection in 2020 - can’t recall if it is on permanent display there …. Whose claiming it ?
  2. Rats but I knew that you would know the answer …
  3. Almost done- another bath in hot water to shape the roof and then lots of CA glue …. The tabs are removed by sanding sticks - the windshield is in for good - i’ll mask it when I paint - I’ve still got small gaps at the roof line - but I’ll hide these with some sort of windshield seal…
  4. In order to line up the roof and get the A pillars symmetrical - Ive sawed off the right corner of the roof and re-glued it about one scale inch in - and then Ill re-profile the roof to make it all square …
  5. More random thoughts - the famous Cobra transporter - the one that was also used by the Scarab team - was that owned by Shelby in ‘64 ? Does anyone know whether it was used for Sebring ??
  6. ‘Nother great source of Cobra Roadster pix is the excellent Dave Friedman book on The Shelby Cobra team - Friedman was employed by Shelby so nobody had better access to the works …
  7. And my bad II - apologies to all in the Hill families both sides of the Atlantic - PHIL Hill was tipped to drive w Shlesser in The Cobra Roadster - Graham Hill would get to Sebring - i think - in ‘65 - driving a Ferrari - I think …. bugatti fan - how bout the Lotus Elite ???
  8. Thankyou slotcar - as i am not well grounded on all things Cobra …
  9. described as copper on the racingsportscars site - maybe - gorgeous either way …
  10. Shot on the Lyons site of the reserve #27 Ferrari 330 LMB - painted gold - looks gorgeous …. Did not start - should have …
  11. And: Pete Lyons’ site has excellent color photos of most of the race entrants …. W - by the way - 2 great shots of the #1 cobra roadster - and one great shot of what was left of it after it blew it’s engine …. Sad Face …
  12. That #1 roadster had some MAJOR rear wheel arches - not unlike the ones on the Corvette Grand Sport …
  13. PR - yes my bad - only one daytona coupe - please do the ill fated number 1 roadster - that would be great - very much like what you are doing on the 63 cobra build …
  14. Dont forget to go thru Rev’s (Rev’s / Collier Collection) on line research site - they’re all there - even some color pix …. But let’s follow their “no posting” policy on this thread - I had not picked out one of the important features on my Daytona Coupe - at Sebring in ‘64 - 2287 had not yet sprouted a tail spoiler- the team would add one later in the season - so the Simeone car sports a spoiler … but I’ll remove the spoiler for my build …

  16. The roof - now removed with a razor saw - is shaped to follow the line of the windshield casting - the tabs will locate it when glued back on with CA glue … venom correctly pointed out that this resin can - to a degree - be reshaped with hot then cold water …
  17. So the coupe was prepped for surgery - the curve of the roof line ober the windshield is now too flat - and the entire roofline was shifted to the right about 2 sc inches - so off with the roof …
  18. The body of the HRM Daytona Coupe is thin resin - so sometimes the casting will shift after its pulled from the mold. Coupes - the roofs - are prone to this little problem - if you’ve built a few - you’ve learned that there is no such thing as a “straight from the box” build -
  19. and if you are wondering why or how there are private aircraft visible in the background of the shot of George Reed's Cobra Roadster ... the airfield was still quite active then - and still is now on a limited basis ...
  20. Noel - I checked the thread rules thoroughly - well I'm making them up as we go ... Although Sebring was - originally - the only North American World Championship race - Brits ARE allowed to enter this thread ! Might I recommend the Jo Schlesser / Graham Hill Shelby Roadster ?? Just sayin ...
