  1. Next ill work on the engine pumps and ancilaries - and consider my water pump mystery …
  2. And while the paint is drying - not long - this paint can be handled after thirty minutes - i added some paint hi-lites to the engine bolts - there are over 100 - on the engine casting - used some Tamiya light gun metal - topped with a drop of Molotow bright silver -
  3. But i did notice that the base of the chassis casting needed a little more work - some sanding and CA glue and another coat of silver - Tamiya acryl lacquer …
  4. But the second coat nails the shade of blue that i am searching for …
  5. The first coat is good but a little grey over the silver …
  6. This particular shade is perfect for the Delage frame - but the MRP paints are not very opague - so i have to hit the frame with some silver to provide an even base color for my Ukriane AF blue …
  7. I like the idea of hi-liting w graphite - gracias - initially airbrushed gunmetal over the blach resin - will add some hi lites later - used the MRP paints gun metal - which is marketed to the military guys …. They also happen to offer this nice shade of sky blue …
  8. thanks P and thanks for these iconic exhaust pipes ... Gun metal or fl black for the pipes ?? today's Question where does flat black end and gunmetal begin ??? ???
  9. Ok. Have a look at my “because i dont have enough lotus kits”. Thread - last page / latest posts - insert joke here …. Would you like whats left of mine ???
  10. Driving the Cape Breton trail in a Lotus - I drove it in A Mazda MPV - dripping - moist - w jealousy … where was I …. One more coda …. I actually think that Auto World posted an ad in a Road &Track issue - maybe Junish 1968 - for the Tamiya kit ! Think thats where I first saw it - dont remember what i had for supper last nite - but I’m pretty sure of this little detail …
  11. Pico has told me that the design was complex - but its the only way to produce this unique part …. The printed part is very strong - but is a nylon-like material requiring tedious prep - but worth the effort - ill finish this in either flat black or maybe gun metal - tbd -
  12. The exhaust manifold is really cool - forty years before BRM (and later Ferrari) swept the exhaust pipes out of the center of their DOHC engine - Delage tried it in their new 12 cylinder engine - spectacular looking but maybe not the greatest packaging ???
  13. Building a Gloster Gladiator for an IPMS show cub display gave me chance to get familiar w Tamiya’s acrylic laquer paints - good stuff - i hand painted the cyl head royal blue - and then set off the sump pan bolts w some gun metal …
  14. You’re welcome - I’ll post some more Miller porn as i get a little farther along w this build …
  15. Thank you. Bondo to improve the surface of the chassis rails - big fan of Micro Mesh …. Finding that there 1800 sanding stick is good for sanding the bondo …
  16. Very helpful … maybe this explains why the Bugatti 59 kit had excellent detail while the Miller and others were curbside …. With the ready availablity of printed wire wheels now - any of their kits can be built and will look great ….
  17. “Picked by Mary” shout out to “Scranton Mary”. And to Oscar !
  18. This. Is. GREAT …. … !! !!! do you still have the hinges ? I think i got the same set ? how’d that auto cutter work ? ! (Just kidding) Nova Scotia - one of my fav provinces …. The Cape Breton drive is the best in North America …
  19. And a note to our esteemed moderators …. You can slide this build over to the race car subsection - por favor …
  20. Asleep for two years - i’m waking sleeping beauty …. Most of the parts have been finished - but need paint - i have to re-do a few things - and then work on the finish applied to the body work - first im gonna try to get a chassis / drive train painted and assembled …
  21. And you’ve still got it - right ? here’s the motor - looks better than the rest of this thing …
