  1. The Yankees went xtra innings w the Royals Monday nite and I decided to start in on the instrument dash. The shape is different than the instrument dash on the Lotus 25 but I can use the Tamiya Lotus 25 dash for guidance - even though it’s 20th scale - most of the kit parts were actually under scale - so it is helpful …. There are limited references - the dash changed throughout the 29’s development - but Rev’s research site came through with one good color shot of the dash pre-race - thanks Mr Revs …. By the way - the dash on the Lotus 29 in the Barber Collection is not accurate …. I’ve got pix but I’m not posting because they aren’t useful …
  2. Well yes - but where does one obtain the correct dia spark plug wire ? I’ve been hunting for this diameter …. Really nice project - Salt Lake City in ‘23?
  3. Wait. You’ve got the sherline kneeling tool? Correct ?
  4. Knurled cap on the fluid reservoir - yes we noticed - was that done with a certain hand tool - or what - I have a fetish for master cylinders - sorry …
  5. What side of the Atlantic do you live on. ?? The 24th scale versions are offered on two sites that I know of - one in North America - and one in Europe …
  6. Thats just one word. But it’s three syllables …
  7. The cylinder head offset also made for problems locating the right side mount -
  8. Mine are not spec - as I made an error somewhere - either in converting the cylinder heads - or measuring the engine bay - the left sided mount was straightforward - but the right side had to be built up from bits and pieces of Evergreen stock on the slope of the monocoque at an odd angle - the final result looks fine - but it was a real head scratcher …
  9. The cylinder head engine mounts are riveted to the monocoque and have a low profile …
  10. ITS BACK ! so there is actually good use for all of those little white metal parts that sit on the shelves of my [one and only] local train / hobby store ..... good thinking - I'm always saving some of the unused chunks from the Finecast white metal kits - because nothing looks more like metal - than metal ... are you bonding with CA ?? have you tried any of the low temp solders on this stuff ??
  11. Coming soon to a building blog near you …. “The upper motor mount FROM HELL” …
  12. Please don’t paint the upper block panels …. This is great…
  13. Then the front mounts - locate one at a time so that the pegs align … this is critical - most of the engine bay accessories can’t be made or located unless the engine is in the right place … need to leave just enough room for the Travel of the exhaust pipes back to the collectors - there is some guess work here ….
  14. evergreen strip and rod and CA glue and epoxie for the rear engine mounts - with a little wiggle room - so the engine can be removed repeatedly without damage …
  15. Well done ! Bravo
  16. Brave new world …
  17. I love it - but Rancero - you're slower than me !!
  18. that's too cool - assuming that the brass was annealed [or just left out in the Florida sun for a few minutes] and then shaped with the help of the vice ?? are you using a "plating machine" ?? Ive got an "old" one - works good - there is a jewelers supply store in downtown Miami that Ive used to source plating solution and equipment ...
  19. Nice. You’re off to a good start ….
  20. The bulkhead at the back of the monocoque carries the suspension and cites the transaxle - the AMT kit part - In the second photo - is the guide …. Made from 2 sheets of .030 Evergreen sheet and some more bits for the extensions for the suspension links …
  21. Pegs in the front corners - .025 plastic rod - hope I can make this removable so I can show off the monocoque detail once it’s done …. The tank has a filler cap - but that won’t be made till the removable body work is done ….
  22. Using Renshape - it’s asymmetric because the radiator return pipe runs down the left side of the chassis on its way back to the radiator …. There is a channel on the bottom foR the steering wheel shaft …
