Should probably do some more work on the Vanwall engine - but I’ve got Ferraris on my brain … maybe I should just lie down to see if this passes …

Oh dear …. -
If you’re loading pix fr your I phone. - give them a “spin” on the editing app - which will give them correct orientation on the thread - which is what I forgot to do on the first trunk shot above …the fourth shot is the obligatory “glued the model to my fingeR tip shot”. That’s always fun …

Gonna put all the …. Junk in the trunk …. But first I have to recover the shut lines on the trunk lid with a strip of Evergreen and lots of CA glue …. And filling the one casting cavity that I found along the lower edges of the body casting …

Very nice -
Sanding. Filing. Scribing. Just removing all the excess resin so that the base looks like the master … leave the UMI markings under the base of the trunk, right ??

The base plate has a few features - pretty basic - the kit was designed as a semi curbside with engine compartment detail but not much else - the frame rails should widen from front to back - these do not - the thickness of the base plate makes it impractical to add detail - so I’ll just clean things up and add one or two features - like the leaf springs -

Trunk was scribed and then parted. Will use some drum sanders to thin the casting and some disc sanders to smooth the trunk surface. I’ll leave the doors on the body

I third that. The door and trunk lines on the body are very shallow - when the kit was sold you had to turn your xacto blade around to scribe resin or plastic - how’d that work ? the Tamiya scribers are my new gotos …

I would stretch to buy them because - it was generally known / understood that the masters could only produce a limited number of castings When MQ corresponded with Gramps last year he indicated that he sold about 40 of these kits... which is why you wont see many - if any - on Ebay .... How many have been built ?? I've seen a few.... how many are unbuilt ??? who knows - if you know anyone with an unbuilt kit - tell them to post here and snipe at me !! by the way - I think Fernando Pinto has produced a Barchetta - and I'm sure that it is quite good .... and also by the way - I think MFH did one - there's might be equally hard to find the FPP kit I'm certain is still obtainable ...

The body was mastered by Paul Fisher - although the castings were - I think - Mostly done by R&D Unique. This would have been an early effort by Fisher. The body lines are spot on. The shut lines for the trunk and doors are shallow and will need scribing. And the castings had some flash and “stuff” which was removed before these shots. The bonnet fit was not perfect - when is it ever? I dunked mine in some hot water and taped it and massaged a curve on the trailing edge that gives an improved fit …
