    The kit includes a sheet of Michael’s excellent decals to model the Le Mans winner. That car is chass oo8. I was fortunate enough to stumble upon chassis 0010 at a Cavallino vintage event at the old Moroso track in West Palm beach 20 years ago. This car won the Spa 24 hour race - Chinetti/Lucas drivers - not bad …. I’ve got a good set of film photos of this car that I’m getting digitized - I’ll post some later this weekend - the Spa winner wore #20 and sports a cool standing number placard over the trunk. There are some interesting differences between the two cars that I’ll cover in the build.

    So why not start some more good trouble. This is a tribute build of the rare 24th scale resin UMI Ferrari Barchetta kit that was offered by the late Michael Quarterman in the early nineties. For more history and reference - see Gramps’ post on page 4 of this section, entitled 1949 Ferrari MM Le Mans Winner - featuring an expert build by a Netherlands modeler by the name of William DePooter. here we go …

    thoughts challenges this photo is of the Weber carbed version of said engine - the kit engine is fuel injected - which is also correct - choose your poison you'll have to scratch the distributor - you'll need some .06 alu or brass tube and lots of patience plug wire - no bigger than .013 - there is an Ebay store that sells .011 wire in different colors - Belly tanker has the site on his ... belly Tanker ... build in the land speed / sports car /racer section

    welcome Mr T to Miami I'm laughing hysterically ... lived here since 1978 and I'm trying to figure out how to move back up North - maybe to Virginia ... but I'm stuck in Palmetto Bay for now !!     Appears to be 12th scale …. Did you get your hands on a CMA Ford GT kit - I didn’t think any of those actually existed …. It’s too detailed to be that 12th scale kit from five years ago - and that’s more than five years of dust collecting there - I do like riddles - I like beer too …

    Electric wires. There are a bunch in the engine bay - the electronic ignition system was a new Ford development - and the components were attached to the roll bar and the braces - I think that the Clark car had some of the components in different locations - the wires that I’m adding are not spec - there are drawings for this system but I couldn’t figure out half of the wiring …

    Thanks. Met Michael once years ago on a trip to Cali - he will be missed - plan to do a tribute build of one of his kits …. Left cyl head plugs are in. Which is good. Because I’m sick of staring at these things …

    Mine did. If it happens to you - be sure to soak your eyeballs in eyedrop solution before you jam them back into your skull. Avoids infection … yes the plug wiring for this engine is kicking my a-s. … The distributor boots are supposed to all point straight back - like good little soldiers …. Mine …. Do not … I’m just making sure I end up with the correct number of plug wires …

    The cast finish on the knockoffs …. Are you mixing the alu powder with the paint - if so are you doing anything special to clear your air-brush ??? nosey ….

    yup you nailed it this is - I think - the later version of the 312 - or is it the first version fr '66 ?? can't remember I photographed a 312 at a Cavallino event almost 20 yrs ago that had the earlier [?] - 2 valves vs 4 valves ? - engine Ferrari will never make a prettier GP car ...
