  1. The test shots were criticized for a number of faults - some worse than others - but my convertible kit is fine - the coupe appeared to have issues with the windshield height / contour - haven’t gotten the coupe yet but based on what’s in the convertible kit - I wouldn’t be afraid to get one …
  2. I’ve not done business w Upscale - but check Model Roundup’s site - I got mine from them about ten days ago - got the convertible - but they had stocks of the coupe also - just in case - by the way - I think the kit did turn out pretty good - but the wheels are a disappointment …
  3. Problem solving - you’re making room on the kit shelves - but your fastback will eventually fight for space on the display shelves - but that’s a good problem !
  4. The part that I’m using from Mike Q’s engine castings lacks flanges for the exhaust pipes - I’m adding these with bits made from Evergreen strip. - .015 by .156 -
  5. The front of the early Columbo 12s located accessories like the alternator and the fuel pump in a different manner than the later GTO engine - requiring some changes to the timing chain cover of the GTO engine cover casting sawed away from the Reps and Mins GTO block …
  6. This is the electric diagram for the 34 and the 38 - but I think that the 29 set up is nearly the same - as the Ford 255 - that’s the 29 engine - was developed at the same time as the DOHC …
  7. So that’s where the voltage regulator goes !! Glad I took a short break on this project - now I can torment myself to my hearts content …. I’ve got a reprint of the manual for the engines - a Ford publication - but I didn’t have this Ford publication - which makes me wonder what else I’m missing …THANKS i think …
  8. Enjoyed the whole build. Do you think that a trim of the radiator shroud will allow better use of the hinge system ? I’ll try to show this to Harold in a few weeks …
  9. I’ll bet Harold has a mold somewhere in his stash already - I’ll see one or both in a few weeks and will inquire …
  10. Paul and the Mrs lost everything in the Paradise fire - I think this is mentioned on his site - which is still up - although taking no orders .... - but they have decided to return to Paradise - in a condo at present - while deciding where to live ... Paul's sense of humor remains perfectly intact - would like to meet them some day -
  11. Just a brief follow on my GTO series II post. - Paul Fisher informs me that this was not one of his - believes it to be a Joker knockoff - interesting - it does have that distinct petroleum odor when you sand or grind the resin - which - as Fisher points out - means that I should “mask up” when I prep the body …
  12. on the subject of unobtanium ... While starting in on the UMI Barchetta kit - I remembered that I also had this buried in my stash Sold to me by UMI - I believe that Mike had Fisher do the body - hence the Acme tag under the tail ... rare rare rare thick casting but as with all of Paul Fisher's efforts - lines are spot on ... I've also got a slightly started Peter Wright vac formed Spyder Corsa kit - which is one reason that I'm going to try to get castings of the the Ferrari engine that I'm building on the Model Cars thread will ask Norman or Harold to do the honors ...
  13. My head is spinning this site has viewers of a certain tender age that are unaware that these tractors were a staple in the pits until when ? The early eighties ? Yup I’m feeling old - nice build by the way ..
  14. Better …
  15. The cylinder heads on the Columbo 12 are, as I recall, 60 degrees opposed - the angle of the heads on the Reps and Mins block are perfect - or appear to be - so the sliver of black visible when the timing chain cover is held against the UMI cyl head tells me that the angle is not quite right on this part - also the left side cam box is too narrow - so this requires some surgery using .020 Evergreen strip …
  16. The motor mounts are cast on to the sides of the clutch housing on all of the Ferrari 12s - detached this part from the Reps and Mins block and will use it here - the Reps and Mins starter is quite good and correct for all of the Columbo 12s - so I’ll use it here.
  17. Since I’m using the timing chain cover from the Reps and Mins castings I sawed apart the corresponding part from the GTO sump and attached it to the cover
  18. File and sand file and sand sand and file … Tamiya liquid glue
  19. MotoR mounts - the factory drawing - and the mount on the Reps and Miniatures Columbo block - very correct - will duplicate this …
  20. Also consider raw metal finish - no polish ….
