  1. The effect here is over the top!!
  2. The lowboy does have a bow to the bed...I don't think diecast... with the hazard light...real the chain doesn't look diecast ??
  3. One of the newer scams is picking up a virus from Image files. When Google image surfing I will get a message from Norton about a hack attempt...coming in thru the image site. Usually the screen will freeze and "start" a scan for viruses......and you cannot back out. My norton will close it, but on some you must "X" out As Bill said...keep your antivirus and spyware up to date.
  4. Hey Tony.....great eyes....The shed roof is straight out of Kens book! I normally wouldn't copy things..but that was exactly what I needed...I changed the size a bit for my version... I wish you had givin me the door frame idea earlier...great idea...I'm planning on a series of washes to make the frame details stand out more...don't think I can add it now w/o major repainting... As this is my first Dio....I am learning totally different things..and having a ball. "Aileens" is also called "tacky glue"...a thick white glue I get it a Michaels....between that and "crafters choice ultimate" I use them for all mockups..plastic and wood. It is water soluble...but it does take awhile to dry
  5. Built 1 more ridge support for the middle, installed it with aileens and glued the ridge in. After all was dry I Sheathed the roof with my wood ...glued it up with carpenters yellow glue and then made a second fascia that tied it all together. When things were drying I cut up and made the frame for the tin roof over the side door....This place is starting to take shape!!
  6. On the Gibson motors I have, I did a fair amount of filing to get things to fit..I mocked them up with aileens tacky glue, got the fit correct, then took them apart washed the white glue off with water, painted them and then assembled with CA. If your fit is tight do not go with gel type CA....as it will be too thick. Here is a great source for CA facts....speed, thickness, what works best....look around on this site..lots of good facts http://www.bsi-inc.com/Pages/hobby/adhesive.html
  7. Black Gold is the only correct supplier of HOK rattlecans....I use Coast and Slixx. Slixx does carry the Black Gold http://www.ecsvr.com/slx/shopdisplayproducts.asp?page=4 BC32S TANGELO PEARL (ORANGE)...Use over white BC26S to match color chip book. Other base can be used, but will change the final color. Can apply kandy over these colors if wanted. These dry dull, and need to be cleared with our SG100S for gloss. SPRAY (4.75 oz) $12.00
  8. Tony I mocked it up with foamcore....just looks too thick...wrong I plan on the ribbed roof laying on the sheathing and overhanging all edges w/o a fascia...sorta like this one
  9. Thanks Doc...Any weathering thoughts on this one from your state of mind??? Thanks to Tony...I now have some decent ends....I went to Michaels for some basswood...found these, which worked out perfect..... Glad I used the sticks made the ends a snap to fab up, clamped up till dry, trimmed the excess wood..... looks like a good fit! I already had glued the sills to the frame so the ends will clamp up and glue to the sills and then the whole top will lift off....I hope Mocked up the sheathing...I think I need 1 more roof support in the middle to prevent waves under the metal ribbed roofing....this is shaping up!!!
  10. The Power of Love and the Grace of God !!!
  11. The truck would need to be 10 foot tall....just to hold the motor....and then there is cooling 3400 hp..... very kool....but stupid I love the air under the blowers!!
  12. Boyd's Vantastic and coupster have a billet one
  13. Thanks for the tips Tony....I have your garage bookmarked also I went out to the shop and found some goodies....balsa sheet, bass plank, and a bit more foamcore....did a bit of modification to the frame and made a couple of gables..gotta cover them now, as I had all this leftover 3/16 balsa sheets 36" long....Perfect sheathing with a trim..
  14. What we have done is a couple of different ways...The last one we had a drop down battery and could drop it down to use jumpers..we did use an Optima battery. Another way is to shave the handle and leave the lock cylinder then make a rod to connect the latch to the lock, this was done a lot years ago....leaves the chrome lock in the middle of the door Another way is to hang a cable down from the trunk latch and make access through there
  15. THANK YOU TONY!!!!!! That is exactly what I will do.....I was thinking too much with the trusses...I have some 6mm L shaped styrene that will work perfect for both the fascia and ridge. The flat roof is a lift off already...this will work!! I have some bass planking that I use for pickup beds....perfect idea for the sides.....I still need more ribbed roofing and another foamcore, but thats no problem!!
  16. Thats Great News Johhny.......more prayers at you both....keep pluggin!!
  17. Thanks for the input Tony.. .That has been my fight all along I see and have pictures of many ribbed roofs, and they are always pitched...my issue is what to make the "sides" from.....siding or bricks...As I have a good flat surface I should be able to come up with the trusses needed......and I do need more ribbed roofing
  18. 32" x 36".........10 to 12 inches tall.....
  19. Dave hit it right on....I moisten the brush in thinner and work the paint a bit. The long skinny brushes, called liners work great for hand striping..I got these from Micro Mark.... http://www.micromark.com/6-piece-Ultra-Detailer-Paint-Brush-Set,7662.html
  20. A little of both....It is a photo background and I suspect will be in "construction" for some time...The plexi Idea is valid...but out of my $$ for a while. I'm thinking of a PVC framework with a sheet plastic cover,,,like a drop cloth. My biggest issue will be keeping the bushes and trees dust free..
  21. Img should work here..... looks like this......... Got all of this from CLAY!!!! good easy info...
  22. New Goal was to get the corner trim on and to make a roof from some foam board and styrene so I can lay some metal roofing across it. Seemed to come together without a hitch...The kit corners came up just enough for the foam core to sit nicely, I then took some 6mm angle and made a frame so I had a base for the ribbed sheet roof I'm going to use...when done that will be the edge flashing. Best part is that it will lift on and off w/o any fighting!! Ran out of ribbed roofing I'll have to order another as that was the last at the train store...but it does look good, will fit with a small trimming and should weather well!!
  23. I'm thinking a large lightweight plastic drop cloth....Do not have a clue on supporting it. Any ideas or pictures??
