Another thought is the cedar wrappers that some good stogies are shipped in.....its a thin veneer with perfect grain... Or even better yet...Revell....y'now the plastic kit people? They now sell scale plywood...I got it at Michaels with my coupon.... 1/64 " thick birch, 6" x 12" (# 88-7625) $4.99 list they have larger sheets...I thought it was veneer when I saw it, but it is real plywood!! Tower Hobby lists it( price is wrong!!) http://www3.towerhob...p?&I=LXXJM0&P=7 from Revells catalogue... Plywood Sheets Genuine plywood (no single layer veneer substitutes) ensures strength in thicknesses ranging from .4 mm to 12 mm. Easily cuts to desired length and shape — unfinished to accept paint and varnish well for outstanding results. Superior grade wood compliant to current laws, including California CARB Phase 2. Revell plywood is available in these sheet sizes: 4 (101.6 mm) x 12 (304.8 mm) inches / 1/8 (3.1 mm) to 3/8 (9.5 mm) inch thickness 6 (152.4 mm) x 12 (304.8 mm) inches / 1/32 (.8 mm) to 1/2 (12.7 mm) inch thickness 12 (304.8 mm) x 12 (304.8 mm) inches / 1/8 (3.1 mm) to 1/2 (12.7 mm) inch thickness 12 (304.8 mm) x 24 (609.6 mm) inches / 1/32 (.8 mm) to 1/2 (12.7 mm) inch thickness

The trouble you will have with a cloth background and models is due to the lack of depth of focus / vs depth of field .In trying to get the focus correct on the small subject the texture of the back round will jump out at you. Because the separation between the model and background is so tight you cannot throw your background out of focus easily...Even some of the "finer" weaves show up. I learned this doing Crystal shots when I was just starting. With the magnification we need that cloth will usually show up....Yes you can use it to your advantage, or photoshop it away....I used to spend less darkroom time burning and dodging than I do in PS today. With the availibility of seamless paper and PVC pipe..backdrops should be simple. Shooting 1:1 cars is a lot different than models....no Need for a "blimp" for mainlighting -

Then you would love Truly Nolen..Thats his name and his car collection is huge.... If these companys spent as much of the budget on chemicals vs ads they would be good -
Trying to stay on topic so......

I have a jewelers version of that..1" belt. It works well at its own jobs, brass rod and tube, some aluminum, but not plastic . I used mine for slot car frames and R/C things that were made from metals....as mentioned that is a woodworkers lightweight type and overkill for plastic as it will remove fast!!!

But no more worries about the wrong bulbs in the lights or changing filters 5200 kelvin........as you said...light is light Now we have digital backs for large scale...Ansel is still rolling!! -
But, the big question is this: Will guys buy this car, or is it already tainted by Oprah? The reality is that no dude is gonna cross-shop this Vee-Dub with a Chevy Camaro, Dodge Challenger, or Ford Mustang. But plenty of men purchase the equally cute Mazda Miata and Mini Cooper, each of which have genuine performance credentials among enthusiasts who understand that small cars are more fun than big ones. As long as the New Beetle Sport drives like a GTI with a more vivid personality, and as long as the TDI Clean Diesel can woo green-minded guys who want great gas mileage packaged in something that doesn’t look like a Toyota Prius, Volkswagen (read all Volkswagen articles) should successfully expand the car’s buyer demographic. But with women influencing at least 75 percent of all new car sales in the U.S., maybe it just doesn’t matter.

Yep it sure does! Thanks!! Smoothed foam out , covered with plaster cloth, painted slurry of hydrocal over that, mixed up a couple more coats with liquid pigment and hydrocal brushed on and is drying now can't wait to start working on the centerpiece from SMBC....

Milliput is what you need ...LHS or online

I do not have any Sculptamold around..just hydrocal...thanks for any leads!
-
Here are the basics......foam bonded together, Hardcoat of plaster cloth for sculpted hills. I am planning to set the base of the garage shown in the Hydrocal with a simple trench around , then adding my gravel and weed cover. My need to know is will I need to plug or "glass cloth" for hydrocal to stick to the foam. The "plastic barrier" was removed from the foam and it will be roughed up before skinning with hydrocal. This will be a photo base so it will be stationary, so flexing will not be an issue

I'm going to make a different point in this post.....The best way too see a color correctly is in "daylight".....real world your not going to get the "perfect light" that you want. I live in the "Sunshine State" ...Its bright..in fact SO bright..I use a flash on my camera most of the time. What you do in a nut shell is shade the camera from the sun, let the sunlight do its thing and you use "Fill Flash" to fill in the shadows...you can always decrease light in a picture / image if wanted...but you cannot increase it....learn to use a 2 Plane flat that can fold and be set up quick ( for 1/24 scale a 24 x 12" folded in 1/2 will work). White artist foamcore board is cheap and easy and you can get it anywhere... -

Stick with tried and true...18% grey / gray is as neutral as you can go even when the color temp of your lights is wrong...the 18% will allow you to correct colors as needed Kodak sells a pocket size 18% card..... Any color that you want for contrast will also look better if the meter exposes with 18% ( use card at model, set camera to "AE" LOCK....meter off card for exposure 1st touch will lock exp,now remove card, 2nd touch will lock focus and allow shot to be taken. ) This is a " norm " for AE LOCK.....your camera may work slightly different, and you are using a tripod???.......I hope.. Auto Exposure not Aperture Priority!!!! Know the difference and you will see the difference. Done now...... feel better -

Use a pencil...I usually run a #11 blade on the inside to deburr and make it a bit thinner I use a length of dowel, but a pencil will work...push and roll on a flat piece of glass -
