  1. Diecast....grill fasteners
  2. Lets see if J responds....he drew them
  3. I burried both of mine... ...I miss you JOHN AND LIAM So If you still have them ..give them a big hug or call!!
  4. Plastistruct sells all sorts of goodies in "G" scale.....darn close. more like 1/22.5 scale but for roofs, siding and bricks it will work (RR Store ) and that size will make for a large base!! I've started a 3 stall garage its base is 19" x 12"...and thats just one biulding..no dumpster even!
  5. YOUR ALWAYS CORRECT HARRY.... If you knew the real story...you would not defend the Zimmer family......... I really do not care if you like or dislike the car..you missed my point as always and wish to argue.... " So my point was, if Zimmer stole from Stevens, as Mike implied, then surely Stevens stole from Mercedes" It was sold as a NEO CLASSIC......NOT A MERCEDES.......The Zimmer was made to take customers away from the market that Excaliber found and filled, On the other hand the Excaliber was not made to take away Mercedes customers.
  6. Well it will make a tooth....seems sorta waxy, am going to try sanding and paint next...
  7. Love the use of the Fifty spears on the hood......great idea and well done...MORE!!!! :)
  8. Because Brooks came up with the Idea......as I lived 4 houses away I would say He just wanted the car to make it BACK home without the wrecker saw more than one classic come back on the hook. Brooks eventually opened up a museum in Mequon WI.... sorta like the PT Cruiser and Chevy HHR.....Old looking...."New" market. The rumors were that the lawsuits between these two put them both belly up....I just think it was because of the taillights being sooooo ugly
  9. But supplied a car with all american parts to a "new segment" market and employeed many in the Milwaukee area...He also did design many of the Stude classics B) "The idea was a "contemporary classic," a new car that looked like the Mercedes SSK that Stevens once owned. "I wanted this to be a replica [for those] who could not play in the collector's market even then [and for those who wanted] a "two-way classic,' something that you can be sure will get you back home..." Stevens duly rendered a dashing neoclassic roadster body, and a Lark Daytona convertible chassis was delivered to his Milwaukee studios with power front-disc brakes and supercharged, 290-horsepower Studebaker 289 V-8. The result, labeled "Studebaker SS," was completed in just six weeks by Stevens and his sons, David and William. No sooner did it reach New York than Studebaker backed out. A "contemporary classic," said company officials, conflicted with their newly embraced image of the "common-sense car." Undeterred, Stevens arranged to exhibit the SS in a separate space. Luckily, he wound up across from a hot-dog stand, but the cycle-fendered two-seater would have drawn crowds anyway. It was, in fact, a sensation, and dozens of inquiries from would-be owners prompted the Stevens sons to form SS Automobiles in August. By 1966, they had built 56 copies of a mildly modified version bearing the Stevens-registered name Excalibur and also called SS. Studebaker, meanwhile, had ceased building cars at last, thus ending the availability of its 289 V-8, but General Motors friends Ed Cole and "Bunkie" Knudsen agreed to provide the Stevens family with Chevrolet 327s in 300-bhp Corvette tune. This change made the lithe 2100-pound Excalibur a blistering performer." http://auto.howstuffworks.com/excalibur.htm
  10. The Zimmers are a ripoff of the "original" Neo Classic designed by Brooks Stevens....twenty years later Corvette power trains with V/W turnsignals and tailights
  11. Its real......too many ways I could do it and BMW does have the ad $$ sorta like the mythbusters tablecloth episode......a few tricks not shown, in this one , focal length of the lens used along with the compression from the lens used, and camera angles, great editing skills and a bunch of SINGLE takes combined...It could be easily done.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G4F2_P6K6nM
  12. A trick Mark Gustafson shared is to get TWO tubes of the hardener in different colors..red and blue. When building up layers it will make sanding easier if you alternate colors...sorta like guide coats on primer... The one part glazing putty is like tamiyas liquid surface filler...Both are more like thick lacquer...great for small pinholes and minor scratches..but not for filling in larger areas like molding in. This 50 chop was filled in with two part, here you can see the two small areas that were covered with the Tamiya liquid, which was applied after primer was down to fill the small lines left
  13. Great info Mark!! No you won't find Perfect match colors on line...BUT as they are 1:1 auto colors....search for the auto mfgrs colors you like and there you go. I shoot HOK, Testors, and Tamiya lacquers with no issues. Krylon has never worked for me on models, although I shoot it on many non plastic things. The new size duplacolor cans will let you do at least 2 kits from the can..3 or 4 if you decant them.
  14. :D Its a bunch put together...C'mon Harry spill the beans!!!
  15. I shoot disc brakes with the metalizers, let dry throughly and use tamiya clear for the calipers I usually hold the disc with a pencil so no smudging occurs...clear will prevent ruboff..but will change the look
  16. NO.......You can shoot the others over lacquer, but unless you know all the tricks LACQUER OVER LACQUER!!
  17. Its not Tamiya..... But it is a quality automotive paint.....I use it and its clear a lot..I clear my HOK with it.. The Pickup is all Duplacolor, The 2 cars are HOK color and Duplacolor Clear
  18. For the CA..debonder might work if Pro weld was used..good luck as it will fuse the plastic.by getting it watered down and frozen aou might get it apart without too much damage....good luck!
  19. Alberto.....LISTEN TO BILL.......His finishes and Builds are "OBSESSIVE".....Search for Bill's Build on the Merc (HINT . HINT!) And it will all be clear I also see scratches using 600....But I also polish after painting for final smooth. Yes Bill I'm cheap and wet sand most things  I justify that buy ing the "good" paper and hope it lasts......... I do blow most of that away with 65 psi in the other prep place..the garage and it must be dried to see sooo that is time not needed for most builds. I've found bondene with the brush best for ghosting and as I shoot Duplacolor and HOK I stop at 600 grit for bodywork, paint and polish follow
  20. This hardens white, not clear and works at 150f
  21. No problem...thanks for the reply....thought it was a stretch
