  1. Those are great kits. I did one with Bill Elliott Slixx decals.
  2. Out of .020" styrene and some angle stock.
  3. Back on the Pinto. It has been close to being done, ran into some snags and put it aside. Paint is Model Master Lacquer and their clear coat. I'm not going to polish it. Wheels I got at a show from a vendor called Nutmeg Hobby. I would love to get more. I'm going to look into having them printed. Lug nuts are Detail Master hex fittings. I just made up the radiator details.
  4. Lots of long-term members are MIA for years and POOF... they make a meeting. Out of all members today, there are about 5 or 6 us around that started with me. We have had quite a few new members last year and this year. The club tried a new venue in 2022 that was a total bust, so we are back in Blue Point since 2023. I have only missed a very few meetings since 1998 only because I was sick, I had a couple of college courses that caused me to miss the Thursday meetings for a semester. I even made the October meeting after my 2016 heart bypass, I was home from the hospital, 10 days after I came home. I made the meeting in June of 2014 a week after my wife's wake. I never sleep late, my back pain issue plus a hungry cat always gets me up. I was up at 5:45 today with the t-storm, which scares the cat so I was there for him. I generally am in bed by 10, up at 7 at the latest. I missed Replicon this year with lower back pain, I almost went to the ER with it. The next Monday I was at pain management for a cortisone shot and got an rx for steroids. I will be at the NNL East even in a body bag. My first model magazine shoot was at the Radisson show in 1998, a '65 Ford stock car that made the Scale Auto contest issue. My last was in 2023 for Model Cars Magazine, a '49 Ford gasser. The last trophy I won was at Replicon last year. I had one car in Fine Scale Modeler around 2009. All told, 13 magazine appearances. Trophies, I would have to do a serious count of them all. They range from pieces of paper to a 3' tall one. Good luck with your dad, my brother was taking care of my dad quite a bit and brought him to some club meetings. The old guy enjoyed it although nobody was building B24 bombers.
  5. I have things going and coming in the mail all the time, mainly model stuff and 1:1 car parts, some tools as well. This is since around 1998, I have never lost a package either way. I have had some delays, but very few, like 3 total. I have had damaged 1:1 car parts arrive at my house due to poor packaging by the seller. My eBay activity is close to 1800 transactions. Maybe I am lucky, maybe it is the shipping route to Long Island. I worked with a guy that sold guitars, guitar parts and amps, effect pedals, etc. He was 3 for 3 with the USPS losing things on him. He swore by FEDEX. I had a Summit order arrive via UPS a couple of years ago, someone there opened the box and swapped my car parts for plastic pipe elbows. Summit made good on it.
  6. I had a '68 Bullitt car I bought in 1980, factory 390 4-speed, 3.90 Detroit Locker rear. I tamed it down with a 351 and a C4, but it was still wicked fast. I sold it in 1984 to a local Ford guy that restored it.
  7. The wheels are quite nice. I was able to find wheel backs for the fronts. I was able to find aluminum tubing to locate the rears.
  8. The Radisson was not the worst venue. I won a best in show award one year and they had to find me in the bar ?. You should come to a meeting in Blue Point, every 3rd Thursday at 7. This month it falls on the 18th. We meet at the Henrietta Acompura Lodge on Montauk Hwy. Take Nichols Road south to the end, hang a left. The lodge is a 1/4 mile on the left just past King Kullen.
  9. Sort of box stock-ish. Wheels and tires are from Jay's Resin Wheels. Headers are 3D printed, possibly VCG Resins. Stacks is got on eBay. Hood scoop I made up. Paint is Tamiya Dull Red with Mr. Hobby matte clear. Decals are from the kit. I opened the rear wells up to fit the tires. I took the chrome trim off the body.
  10. Finally finished it up. I'm also happy with it. The engine, brake booster/master and shifter are VCG Resins. Wheels and tires are Jay's Resin Wheels. Boom and tow truck parts are from a lot I picked up on eBay. Paint is Tamiya, I went with Ace Hardware gray on the chassis since it holds up to being manhandled. The grille was opened from the back. Decals are Chimneyville. The front bumper and tow plate are 100% scratch built. Light Bar is an AMT parts pack item. I have another in the works started in 1999.
  11. I joined the LIARS club in 1999 and we were teamed with another club (now defunct) and had a couple of shows in hotel event rooms. It was costly, but great venues (with cash bars...). Then we went to a catering hall... big mistake. I had been there for Bot Scout dinners and warned that it would be too dark, and it was quite an embarrassment for 2 years. For the past 20 or so years we have been at a recreational center. Great parking, well -lit, easy to get to. Another club has their annual show there too. We book the same date every year, so do they. Classic Plastic in NH uses an Elks Lodge and it is perfect, with a bonus of food being available. My advice is getting a similar venue, almost any fraternal organization rents out hall space. No matter where you land, venues are likely going to want to make sure you have event-insurance. Our club is IPMS based, so that is covered very easily.
  12. I like it a lot. I'm still not sure what I'm doing with mine. I have a later wrecker bed I got on eBay, but the quality is not there. I could go ramp truck with it. The paint on yours looks amazing.
  13. My brother does his emblems the same way and they turn out great. The foil has to be trimmed close around the scripts/emblems so the line is minimized.
  14. Almost complete, I have a decal to fix and put on a couple of things.
  15. I see some 1979 bodies on eBay, fairly close but no cigar. These have the grille/bumpers integral, I'd prefer them to be separate.
  16. I bought a box of "surgical" blades from a tool vendor, 100 for $15. They are great for BMF. Definitely brand X. I used to get real ones from work, no difference in function from what I could tell. I like the idea of the smaller holder.
  17. I see a 48 Plymouth that has a Diplomat front stub under it with a 318.
  18. When I was doing alignments I recall the newer bar set ups. The Volare also had them. Probably the Diplomat cop cars too. One guy I know ran Mopars at Freeport, all the old style bars. He was quite a winner in the old Belvederes. The hot tip was to elevate the right front corner of the car when the roll cage was welded in. The dealer also had a certain part number torsion bar that was preferred.
  19. Eh not even close. A couple Mobius Ford trucks do have the later 6 in them.
  20. Getting close. Only a few items remain like the mirrors and rear license plate. And a general cleaning.
  21. I love Cadillacs. I worked with a guy who had the same car in black, his was garage kept and looked like new all the time. My next car will likely be a Caddy.
  22. Best TZ ever... there is something on the wing....
  23. I have some feelers out, nothing so far. I have the NNL East coming up, I'll ask around there. I have seen some 4-door 3D printed ones, I forget where.
  24. Tamiya has a good light blue you may want to look at.
