  1. If you look closely to where the fender cut outs are in the rear fender, you'll see that I have added about four scale inches to the overall length of the car/truck/whatever. My hopes are to alter the fender in some way to utilize the fender cut outs and stay true to the Olds design. However until the bed is permanently glued into the body, I cannot really start making those measurements. No updates for a while. Heading out on vacation. I'll get back to it in about 10 days.
  2. I used to have the same problem. The problem was, because of all the aftermarket parts ordering, detailing, scratchbuilding and kitbashing, I just wasn't finishing any models. Maybe one or two a year. So after some serious thought I've decided that I won't go whole hog on every single build. Because sometimes paint and build is okay. Besides, unless you are a big competitor at model shows who's gonna see all that extra detail from inside the display cabinet? Because of this I very rarely have more than $60 in a completed model.
  3. Wow. What a great project. I've never heard of these. Looking forward to seeing this come together.
  4. I understand why they included the beauty rings and hubcaps, but it would have been nice if they'd included the steelies too. Everything else looks great.
  5. I'm still at the body work. I've decided to really do this right and make it shine. I'm planning at this time to do a gloss paint job but likely a dark color that will really make the chrome pop. The rear bumper is going to be a real challenge.
  6. Thanks guys. I've got 90% of the body work done. The bed fits well and the rear panel doesn't look out of place. I'll get some up to date shots tonight. I'm heading out of state on vacation for the next 10 days so it'll be waiting for me upon my return. I've nothing else on my bench so it'll be getting more attention. On a side note, I've made no descisions on the paint. I was leaning towards flat black frankly. So I'd be interested in any ideas anyone has.
  7. Very impressive work. The decals look amazing.
  8. Ive got about 35 built models and 55 unbuilt. That unbuilt number for some reason doesn't seem to go down much even though I have been finishing models lately. Revell and Round 2 have been doing too good a job the last few years. The best way to make sure your collection doesn't overwhelm is to build slowly. Put in the extra effort, the extra time it takes to do it the very best you can.
  9. Tim is a top notch builder who regularly leaves us in the dust at local contests. Unfortunately he's also a nice guy which makes it hard to hate him.
  10. Frankly. Most of us regulars are of a minority. We stick to a chosen hobby for the long haul. Most people I know go through many many hobbies and interests. My wife is like that. Every time I'll dump a $100+ in her new interest and she's at it for a season or two and then it gets shoved in a corner and she never touches it again.
  11. The wheels/tires look alot like the ones from the '29 Model A pickup. It comes with a chopped top? I must have missed that. Here's my thoughts on it.
  12. According to my spreadsheet - 6. Might be five soon though. I'm just not feeling my Cannonballer. AMT '70 Chevelle Revell Ford Courier '67 Charger - Allison '62 Corvette Modified '32 Ford Sedan - bobber '50 Olds Coupe - pickup
  13. Paul I just finished a '49 recently myself. Very nice kit. I look forward to seeing where you go with this.
  14. My sentiments exactly. Well done sir.
  15. Charles, I have been unable to find any references to the color of Richies Tbird. Perhaps see if you can reach out to the Valens estate? Good luck with your build.
  16. Sounds like an interesting story there.
  17. Interesting point. I've complained about the SBC myself in previous threads. I always strive to build something unique. Not to look imaginative, but because I am imaginative. But I am looking forward to this kit. I'll add a parts pack Pontiac and the SBC will likely find a home in something else. Tim, one question though. One of the most popular complaints about the roadster was that even the channeled version seemed to have an unusually high stance. Has that carried over to the coupe?
  18. The mottling of the blue and black does look interesting, but the rest of the effect looks like it was sanded dry with a heavy grit. It doesn't look weathered. I think if you'de wet sanded using a finer grit, you'de have gotten a more authentic look. Sorry to get all critical. I know a bit about weathering. If I can advise, please feel free to send me a PM.
  19. My dad has always been the most fumble fingered fella I've known. I learned early on not to hand him my finished models. "Well, you can just glue that back on. Oh, and that too. Sorry."
  20. I'm finishing up a couple old builds now guys, be back on the Critter Catcher soon.
  21. I have this kit also and I'm working on a plan for it. I've always seen the '41 Plymouth as a really pretty girl with bad teeth. The body is great and very stylish, they just bolted on a lot of ugly. I'm looking forward to seeing where you go with this.
