Next years race will start Jan 1. The theme is yet to be decided. After this one ends on December 2, TFchronos (who will be running next years Cannonball) will put up a poll thread and we can decide on our theme. Hope to see you John.

Very nicely done. I liike it a lot.

Burnish it all down with a q-tip. It will help smooth out the wrinkles and bring out the details in the windshield wipers.

Wow. I have to say that over the years we've seen some very cool and unusual builds. Guys like Zenrat and Lunajammer always seem to come up with something that makes you do a double take. But this year the creativity has been unpresidented and the build quality is top shelf. I'm very proud to be part of this group of builders. You guys rock.

Hmm.............rain tires you say? I'll look into it.

You could source kits like the pro-street AMT 66 Nova, AMT '70 Super bee, Revell 67 Malibu. Revell 90 Mustang, AMT '69 GTX, AMT '67 Chevelle which feature a back halved non-tube chassis. Or for full tube chassis type racers, the Revell/Monogram Tbird, Beretta, Lincoln and Camaro.

Very likely the satin finish is a result of humidity. Looking good though. And I agree with David about polishing the clear.

I think that ones a goner. Not enough steel left. Just a parts car now.

Which kit??

Casey, I just checked the stash and I do already have a set of these. I'd completely forgotten about them. Thanks very much for the help.

Yeah, but I was unable to find any photos/dimensions on them online.

For this CBP we had two options. 1. Take a car that is not normally considered fast. Make it fast without altering its appearance that might let on that it's fast. or 2. If the car IS normally thought of as fast, it should be in such poor condition/appearance, that no one would give it a second glance. Frankly I didn't think many folks would choose option 2. And I was right. But I knew the ones that did choose option 2 would be something special. I was right about that too.

Yeah, that's in the ballpark Casey. How wide are they? And where'd they come from?

The Truth Is Out...The Earth Is Flat !!!
Jantrix replied to Ace-Garageguy's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
Yep. For reasons unknown some people just need to believe in some sort of conspiracy. Whether it's Area 51, JFK's assassination or the black helicopters, they intensely NEED to believe this. It may be some sort of mental illness on the same level as hoarding or OCD. You can't sway them with facts or proof, because to them the proof is fabricated by the very same mysterious people that conspire to hide the "real truth". I have tried talking to someone like this and afterward I wanted to just bang my head against the wall. I will admit though, this "flat earth" theory is about as wacky an idea as I've ever heard. I mean the fact that you can't seem to fly from Australia to Argentina without a layover, is seen somehow as "proof" of the theory. Man that's thin. -
I did the very same thing here in Jr. High before they were all renamed "middle schools" in Florida. It was a wood and metal shop class. We were given a block of wood and we learned how to create a template for the top and side which we then cut on a band saw. A hole was predrilled in the back for the CO2 cartridge and we put screw eyes in the bottom so it could run along the string. I loved that class.

Yeah. I've done that too. You can put enamel over lacquer, but not vice versa.

From what I can see, you do very clean work and that's great. Very glad to have you join us.

I recently picked up the Bobby Allison 75 Matador stocker. I've zero interest in pretty much any circle track cars, but I have seen a few pics of 70s Era stock cars used for PP. I was just hoping to find some more info on how the cars were set up. What changes I'd have to make to make it authentic. Thanks for the help guys, I'll check it all out tonight.

That looks great. I hadn't considered a shadowbox dio before. That's a pretty nifty idea.

I'm planning a Pikes Peak racer project from the mid 70's and am in need of some reference photos of the time period. For a race as old and well thought of as Pikes Peak there is precious little photographical historical data on the web that I can find. Does anyone have any photos in their archives from the 60's and 70's?. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks. Any other ideas?

Cannonballers! We got a little over two weeks to go! Finish up your racers!
