DOH! Yep you are correct. 3.5 months.
-
I've got the same kit waiting in the wings. I'll be very interested to see your build.
-
Yes. This is somwething I've done twice now and had a good time with. I recommend the Monogram 1/24 kits. They aren't perfect, but they are simple with a low parts count, and everything fits pretty well. Just finished this one recently.

GREAT SAVE. Well done.

The Great MPC '67 Charger WIP Workbench Thread
Jantrix replied to Snake45's topic in WIP: Model Cars
The '66/'67 Chargers are my favorite muscle cars of all (the Aussie Falcon XB a very close second) and I probably build five of these as a teen. Here are two survivors from those days. The yellow one was my first dive into serious modeling after discovering my first model magazine. It's the oldest survivor I have. The purple one is from my early 20's. It's got the AMT '70 Superbee pro-street chassis & OHC hemi, which fits like a glove in the MPC body. Some of my poorest work, but I love them. Depending on the options available in the re-released kit, I may just build a new version of the pro-streeter. Hope you don't mind me posting these up in your thread. -
Stage Coach Wheelsatnder.......On the workbench 8/11/15
Jantrix replied to John Teresi's topic in WIP: Drag Racing Models
Wow. John I'm just blown away. Top shelf work. -
Well now. Time surely does fly. We've got only 3.5 months left folks. Yep. It's time to take a long hard look at the work you still have left and the distractions life has thrown at you and make a plan to get it done for the deadline of December 1st. How's if going for everyone?

Alright. Back on the job. More pics in my workbench thread. I'll be starting the weathering very soon. Some excellent work happening here. I'm glad to see that this years theme has so many people inspired.
-
Interior is complete. More soon.

Lots accomplished lately. First off I have scrapped the whole idea of building it twice, once for Cannonball and then once as a squeaky clean drifter. It will be build as a sleeper and that's all. But set up like a drift car. So I stayed with the sleeper wheels but used a performance tire. Body is painted in it's chosen color and I'm just waiting for the enamel to gas out before I start the weathering. Interior is completed. I just have to modify the kit glass some for the roll cage and the fab work is finally done.

matching interior color to exterior color
Jantrix replied to tubbs's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Yep I did. http://www.autocolorlibrary.com/aclchip.aspx?image=1977-Americanmotors-pg01.jpg This tells me what colors were available and it's very helpful. But it doesn't tell me that what interior colors were used in '77 for a Pacer painted in Brilliant Blue. I'm sure they didn't use a maroon interior with bright blue body paint. Catch my drift? -
matching interior color to exterior color

Is there a place on the web that will tell us what interior colors were available with which exterior colors? Say I want to build a factory blue 77 Pacer. What color interiors were options? -
49 Mercury Gasser Update- More Paint
Jantrix replied to jhuntsman's topic in WIP: Drag Racing Models
I dig it. -
Thanks very much. Diverse and unique pretty much sums up my build style. Glad you liked them.
-
I did one of these myself. The '39's make great gassers.

If you could only choose ONE photo of any of your builds, wich would it be?
Jantrix replied to JAFFA's topic in Model Cars
I wasn't expecting much when I set up this shoot. Grey posterboard on the dining room table with just the overhead and hall light on. Steadied my Galaxy 5S smartphone on a book and snapped a few. They turned out pretty darn good if I'm any judge. This one might be the best of them. -
I did pretty well at a local swap meet on Sunday.

I picked up the Monogram '56 Chevy yesterday at a swap meet and it has the option of using this odd little twin turbo set up. I believe it's also available in the Monogram Rampage Camaro kit. What real life 1:1 engine application is this based on? I've never seen anything like it. The forced air from the turbos is ported below the carb? Seems kinda funky to me, but I like funky. Any help would be appreciated.

Wow. Man, that is just top shelf work. A lot to be proud of there.

Ba, Ba, BAD ta the BONE !
Jantrix replied to Greg Myers's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
This one makes me happy on a level I just can't describe. If there is a "perfect hot rod" this is pretty darn close. -
So anyone else finish theirs up?
-
Yes. I was looking for small lenses in my spare parts when I noticed them. Some clear orange and the rest is history. Quite right. The Revell '54 is in my stash waiting to be kit bashed into a gasser Avanti. No plans for the body so I cut away the center bar and added it to the '57 grill. It looks so natural there I wonder why I haven't seen it done before. This was my first quick build. It will not be my last. It's very thereputic. I think though rather than trying to dedicate three straight days, I'll dedicate three straight Saturdays. Much easier on the family unit. I'm already planning my next one. Thanks very much for the compliments. I look forward to seeing yours.
