  1. Thanks Jason, That is an amazing Rod. The attention to detail is amazing. Good luck with your build. If I were you though, I'd find some sort of dual 4barrel engine and create some sort of cross-ram just to stay with the original theme.
  2. This is some very good work. But I gotta ask, what kind of engine is that in the 1:1?
  3. Jim, man you never disappoint. That looks incredible. We need to see more of you around here. Don't be a stranger.
  4. A lot of us use a degreaser called Super Clean or Purple Power for stipping paint. Very often this will loosen glue joints, but aside from the debonder you can buy for CA Crazy Glues and the like, that's about it.
  5. Would anyone who has this kit, please scan the black graphics for me and email it to jantrix2@gmail.com? I have a set of the white graphics (only) that are very hard to see on the decal film. I'm going to use them on something that isn't the Civic and I want to plan the layout. A scan that I could print and cut as needed would be HUGE help.
  6. Thanks very much guys. If I was going to build a '57, this is what I'd do.
  7. Most likely it wasn't a different kit, but rather a different version of that same Willys.
  8. Wow. Just now seeing this thread. Amazing work. The way you changed the mounting on the spindles to lower the ride height is inspired, but sooooo simple. Very neat work. I look forward to seeing more.
  9. What did you use to mask for the interior stripes. I am never very successful at interior painting.
  10. Without a doubt, the new '29 roadster will be my next kit purchase.
  11. Thanks guys. I'm glad you like it. Gene, the flat finished is something that really speaks to my style of building and it's time I really embraced it. You'll be seeing a lot more in the next couple of years.
  12. Thanks very much guys. I figured it was about time to build a '57. It's my first one.
  13. That looks great Chuck. Very realistic.
  14. Thanks guys. Jim I'm gonna have more for you to shake your head at soon. I'm planning on at least two more suede hot rods coming up. A '49 Ford and a '53 Ford pick-up. Drake, I suppose it does kinda look like something they would build at Gas Monkey doesn't it?
  15. I finished it up guys. Let me know what you think.
  16. Awesome Mike, that's just what i needed.
  17. Most of the pinstripes are from a sheet of pinstripe decals I bought at my LHS by a company called Gofer.
  18. I originally started this for the July 4th, three day, build off. I was unfortunately unable to finish it during that time. I've put in just about an additional five hours to finish it up, so I probably have a grand total of 36 hours in it. Which for me is a VERY quick build. The two other builds I'm doing right now are very heavy on the fabrication and they move very slowly. So this was needed to get the juices flowing again. Just clean up, paint and assemble. This is the venerable and often maligned Monogram 1/24 '57 Chevy hardtop. It has a low parts count and is pretty simple, but by golly everything fits just perfect. It's accuracy is rather poor though. Modifications- Lowered 4 scale inches all around. Opened the grill and cut away the top portion that's supposed to be attached to the hood. I added a '52 Chevy grill bar and cut away the bullets. I drilled them out and added clear bullets painted amber. I did away with some details that I've never liked on the '57, like the peak on the front fenders and the chrome on the top of the fins. I changed the rear tail lights a bit and opened the reverse lights for the exhaust. The hood bullets are aluminum tube and are open ram air style. The engine I modified to a single 4-barrel intake. The paint is Krylon semi-gloss black and Valspar matte Hunter Green, with Testors dull coat over all. Over all I'm very happy with it but it has quite a few flaws that will make sure it never sees a contest table, but I'm fine with that. I wasn't shooting for trophies with this one, just wanted to get one in the built column. Without further ado..............
  19. Thanks Art. I'll see if the '62 Vette body is close to that.
  20. Very nice. I like it a lot.
  21. Well...................................um..............................yeah, I got nothing.
