  1. Holy cow. I've just realized that a flame job either by decals or paint is something I've yet to do. Well successfully that is. I laid these a while back. I let them dry for a week and they wrinkled when I laid acrylic clear over them. That's is something I shall have to remedy.
  2. Well I've heard that a lot of the custom parts that have been lost to time, that Round2 is now including in the repops, (ala '53 ford pickup) were reverse engineered. I've very happy to see if happening.
  3. Over the life of the kit yes, I believe so. But not to a great degree. I do know people who avoid 1/24 like the plague. However people will build what interests them regardless.
  4. Thanks for the offer, but I'm fine without them until I score the kit.
  5. Here's the Pacer drift car I'm doing for the Cannonball CBP. Using the AMT twin turbo 2JZ. I know there are better versions of the engine, but this is what I had on hand. Corvette front suspension and stock rear springs with a Ford 9 inch, traction and panhard bars. I've hit a snag on what color to paint it, which would dictate what color to paint the interior, so I'm sort of stuck.
  6. Wow. This is a surprise to me. In every contest I've participated in the model is judged on what is presented on the table. If the hood is closed it is judged the same as a model with hood open and with a mirrored base. 1. I do both. For some models the engine is less important than how the model looks with it closed. TV and movie cars for instance. 2. They should not. 3. Some do, some don't. However in my experience, most do not. IPMS contests for instance do not want to touch the model at all, but a local contest I go to, states they will be doing a white glove pick up of most models that might be in the running for an award. These are great questions and do not be afraid to ask the club running it, the same ones.
  7. Very nicely done. I did a big kit bash build of that model, of the Cherry 2000 Mustang. Very nice work on yours.
  8. Thanks Steve! Much appreciated. I may have to find that kit. It's got some wacky parts.
  9. Wow. I surprised to see white walls coming from you Jim. That's not your style. Looks great.
  10. Yeah. The other parts are aero headrest-thingies ( i think) and angled antennas. Thanks guys.
  11. Oh man is that ugly. That makes the Aztec look like the belle of the ball.
  12. Ah, that makes more sense. Thanks Fred.
  13. This company is out of business now but you can still find them on ebay occasionally.
  14. Because of models- For someone born in '68 and raised during the stylistally stagnant 70's and 80's (with exceptions), I know an awful lot about old cars, because I've been building them, talking about them, researching them for my entire adult life. My father was born in '44 and grew up wrenching with his dad in the mid-to-late 50's and early 60's and is a great source of vintage automotive knowledge, but I seem to impress him pretty frequently when we're at a car show together or whenever he's checking out my latest models. Which I gotta say, is a pretty great feeling. I owe a lot of this knowledge to you guys, who help out and inform whenever possible. Much appreciated.
  15. I found the chromey bits below in a box of stuff at a swap meet. I thought that scoop was so outrageous, I had to buy it. That outer bar is a 1/25 roll bar, so that should let you know how big that air cleaner is. Anyone know what kit they are from?
  16. Some recent work. Exhaust is proving to be a problem. Here's the first header. I will exit above the front tire centered in the wheel well. It's the stock header, some tube and some solder to do the bend. I'm going to have to really take my time to sand the filler down so that it all looks like one piece. He'res the scratched fule pump, fuel lines from the tank, and the lines to the fuel block. There will be braided lines going to the carbs. Some detail painting stil to do. I built a "bolt-in" cross bar, that will be installed after the engine is glued in place. It will run behind the carbs. I'm starting to see a light at the end of the tunnel. I still need to fabricate a tie rod and drag link, shifter and pedals, smooth out the body and open the rear wheel wells a bit. More soon.
  17. I get the distinct feeling that you could turn that front wheel, and it wouldn't change your direction of travel a lick.
  18. That looks great Chuck. Nice work.
  19. This one has been a grail kit for me for a long time. I'm just not willing to pay the prices they have been going for on ebay. Looking forward to seeing your build.
  20. What do you call a psychic midget on the run from the law? A small medium at large. (cue rimshot)
  21. That one was pretty tough. All my usual search tricks, didn't work.
  22. Very nice work. I like it.
  23. Very well done, but utterly too clean.
  24. I've used black sharpie before that worked out well.
