  1. Krylon what? Most paints are enamels. Most go over lacquers just fine, but I would do some testing on a scrap body first. Krylon also has a Crystal Clear that is acrylic, which can go over pretty much anything.

    64 GTO

And here I thought I was the only one to use those wacky graphics. Nice work, it looks great.
  3. Nope. I will not build something I'm not interested in. Period. See the note in my signature line. Any kit that falls in that category, is trade fodder.
  4. The rear door opens upward but the interior is pretty unremarkable. It's at my Dads place it'll be a few weeks before I see it again.
  5. Thanks guys. I appreciate the ataboys. It was built in the day of monochromatic billet rods, but I gotta have some contrast. Ill post up some more oldies later on.
  6. An idea for next years run.
  7. I'm not sure if I've ever posted this before. It's the AMT '40 Panel build circa 1990, and was my first foray into scratchbuilding/customizing and detailing a model. Paint is Pactra Lightning Purple. Please forgive any mechanical/electrical mistakes. I did a 3" channel on the hood, and then trimmed the same amount from the bottom of the panel body, the result is a poor fit around the rear fenders. The rear door is gullwinged and hinged. The chassis has a lot of scratchbuilding and it's a bit out of scale. I learned a lot from this build. The wheels/tires are Fugimi's. As always, any comments or criticisms are welcome.
  8. Folk Art craft acrylic paint thinned with water.
  9. This is just heart breaking. I've always been a fan of his work. He was one of a kind. "O Captain! My Captain! our fearful trip is done"
  10. FINALLY! The moment we've been waiting for. Paint! Looks like some very cool stuff happening. That tailgate looks incredible.
  11. For me it's easier to just get a new body that to spend hours and hours repairing damage. As for the engine..........................both 440's. Think about it.
  12. I would love some larger photos. There is so much added detail that I want to see please!!!!!! If you are using Photobucket, you can change to size of what you are posting.
  13. That is a super looking model. It looks like a lot of extra detail was added and the paint is top notch.
  14. I'd love to see this in a natural light, to maybe get a better look at the color, but all in all, it's one great looking model. Fantastic work.
  15. Electrical tape, alas, is not forever. The adhesive will give out and it will eventually unravel. I recommend using a piece of black heat shrink. The paint and detailing are top notch on this build.
  16. How about an abrasive kitchen scrub pad?
  17. In addition to what others have said, the Revell 1967 Charger is top notch.
  18. I've never thought of it like that Tom. Is it just a 3D jigsaw to most builders? I've just sort of accepted the thought, that any builder over the age of 20, is building for the same reasons as I do. Which is to turn out a finished piece that I'm proud of and could hold it's own on a contest table. I care about the quality of my work and the idea that some people aren't concerned with it, is hard to wrap my brain around. But, I'm a member of several Facebook groups, and I see that mentality a LOT there. My suggestions and critiques are as appreciated as a fart in church. I'm going to have to think on this.
  19. Well gang I've never really gotten rolling on this and and I've got yet another move coming up, so I'll just bow out now. My modelling ADD and a mild video game addiction has really kept me from accomplishing much this year. I'll be keeping the beer cool at the finish line and I'll toast the first one there. Peace.

    1960 DeSoto

One of my all time favorites! Great work!. Perfect color. Fantastic detail. I've been trying to find one of these kits, but the prices are just crazy high. I wonder if the engine/chassis from the '57 Chrysler 300 would be a good donor. I built one with a MPC '67 Charger chassis back in the day, that turned out great, but it was stolen.
  21. Well I gotta say, that's a new one. Very unique, and remarkably well done.
  22. You may think bad of me for saying this, but I've always thought that "Great model, but I build for fun" or "Great model, but I build just for me", are just excuses for, "I don't know how, and I'm too lazy to learn anything beyond "paint and assemble". Don't get me wrong, I know that there are some with physical, mental or financial handicaps, that can limit ones ability. I'm talking about the person who gets tweaked when you offer constructive criticism on their basic building skills, and they throw that "I build for me, I don't care what you think" at you. Odds are they won't be in the hobby long anyway.
  23. Lately this has become my pet peeve. Slapping rust colored paint on a model does not make the car "weathered". There are plenty of online tutorials on this subject, and it's do-able on any budget.
  24. Wow. That is best-of-show/museum quality work right there.
