Looks like clean building to me John. If I can offer a bit of advice. Every part in a kit has mold seems on them, left over from the injection molding process. If you want to take your work up a notch, the careful sanding to eliminate of those seams is the thing to do.

Very cool tribute and a nice model. You are not alone though. I build this in memory of my grandfather.

Try it on a plastic spoon. Opinions vary but the rule of thumb (sorry ladies), is you can spray enamel over lacquer bit NOT vice-versa.

Okay I have a question, and please don't take it the wrong way. Aside from your use of whatever paint is lying around as primer, I think you are doing a bang up job here. Here is it. Since the hood and trunk are no longer recognizable as Chevy parts, how much work would have been saved if you had just spilced the roof, grill and taillights onto the Ford body and called it good? Seems you went the long way around the field instead of just crossing the grass. But I could be wrong.

I feel very fortunate that I have never witnessed this kind of thing. And I sure have set some strange and heavily armed vehicles on the tables over the years.

Yep, it is channeled - so technically a lo-boy, but that's no rat rod. A great looking traditional rod. So many little details keep jumping out at me. Great work.

Chrome trim on the hood and truck back in the 50's was common and used widely in customizaton. I do not think it would look right on the top though.

I'm not trying to ruffle feathers here, but myself and others seem to have a great deal of difficulty with thumbnails and some of the smaller hosting sites. Imageshack is totally hit or miss for me. It's been discussed quite a bit in chat rooms I've visited. But you can't make an omelet without having your cake and eating it too, right Peter?

I always clear over decals because I want the gloss or lack there-of, to match, but also because I want the decals to last. In forty years I want the decals to look as good as they do now.

Normally I'm pretty used to using lacquers, I like the way they lay on and dry quickly, but I live in Florida and blush is aproblem. I just got Donn Yosts video and will likely try switching back to enamel bottle paints like he uses and see how it goes.
