  1. This is a tough one. I've been wrestling with this very idea for some time now. For me, the problem I have is the big question, "Are my skills there yet, to do the dream car?". To answer that for myself. Nope not yet. I still need to learn the mind knumbing paint skills. So the kit sits, waiting. But I'm cool with that, for now. I'm working on it. A man visiting New York stopped and asked a local street musician, "How do I get to Carnagie Hall?" The musician lowered his horn and said, "Practice man, practice."
  2. YES! I love this. Can't wait to see more. I built an MPC 67 Charger this way years ago.
  3. Whoa! Looking good amigo.
  4. I've used that chassis before as well under an MPC 67 Charger. It took about five minutes of triming to make it fit perfectly. Great platform.
  5. Yep, what he said.
  6. Yeah. I dig it. Excellent work. I'd love to see it setting up next to my Junkyard Rod. What a pair they'd make.
  7. I always thought these were the prettiest sports cars. Great job on it.
  8. Matt, I like it a lot. It looks like you learned a lot doing it. You got a great build there with a lot of character.
  9. The commonly accepted prefered method is to use a white gel pen. Gelly Roll seems to be the brand everyone uses.
  10. That is a real beauty Chris. It looks perfect.

    The Hang-Up

David, after seeing all the show cars you've built, if figure you must have the coolest junk boxes around. I'd kill to get a hold of some of that stuff.
  12. For me the big distrations are the CBP's. I love being involved in them. So whenever a cool CBP pops up that is about something I'm into, I dash off on that tangent and what I was working on is boxed and shelved.
  13. Hoopty, Revell's 66 Chevelle wagon (4door) was sold at Big Lots for a good while very cheap, so there are a ton of them out there. You might be able to find one on Ebay without spending too much.
  14. Cranky I will be paying strict attention. I have a Badger Crescendo Model 175 dual action that was given as a gift and continues to taunt me from the shelf. I haven't yet have the stones to pull it out and give it a try.
  15. Looks like someone turned up the gravity.
  16. Yer awesome Rodney. Maybe we aughta do a tutorial to teach people how to do that?
  17. I wasn't knocking anything. I can dig the social aspects. I can dig having fun with pals. I just don't really care to mix modeling building and socializing (beyond the forums I suppose). Modeling is sort of zen thing for me. I'm off in some hot rod lala land, just me, the model and some tunes, and I like it there. My wife and sons have learned that Dad's in his little world, don't bug him. I'm focused and in the zone. Most of my projects are just that - projects. They can't generally be accomplished in 24 hours. I don't own a kit I don't have a zillion ideas for. So building one near box stock just isn't gonna happen. I'd rather do the elaborate plan. As I said, to each his own. If this is your bag, then by all means have a ball. All I said is that I don't get it. But that's just me.
  18. Driver to passenger- "I can't see a darn thing, can you?? Passenger- !!!!
  19. First off, I'd like to see you try some new pics with the macro function and a tripod or some other way of steadying the camera. I'd also like to see you put the brush paints away and spray paint everything you can. Brush paints should be for touch ups and detailing only, in my opinion. Spray paint gives everything a cleaner look, no brush strokes visible. Lastly the tires are too thin, so much so as to look unrealistic. The two tone is very nice. The color combo works. I'm not a pink kinda guy, but I still like this. I think once you can ditch the brush paints, your work will take a huge leap in quality. Keep it up.
  20. WHoa! That is looking fantastic. Great paint work.
  21. I'm not a big fan of the nose in the air, but it's a well crafted model and that I can certainly respect. Nice work.
  22. I can never understand the point of this. I'd never be happy with something built that quickly. I'd have to re-do it again later. But hey, to each his own. Have a great time Wildrice, I'll be checking out the results.
  23. Wow, that's quite impressive. Fantastic work.
  24. Very cool Jim! I'd say you've hit the mark. Very different. Originality counts folks! Anyone who says different is selling replicas.
