  1. After seeing this thread start I pulled out this kit and had a look. Although labor intensive, I don't think a fenderless rod would be all that hard to pull off. With the interior installed the frame channels nicely into the body. Z'ing the frame might be required to get the stance right, but it's definitely doable.
  2. Interesting project. I'll be following along.
  3. I like it. Nice work.

"A Study in Green" by Jim Stepanek Excellent work. I really like this one. How do you do that washer fluid bottle so convincingly?
  5. We're gonna have to agree to disagree on that. I'm not disparaging folks that build to a particular level because that's what's fun for them. I'm disparaging an adult who builds like an eight year old with ADHD and calls it "Folk Art".
  6. I've a confession to make. I don't like bubble tops. Roth, Starbird bubble tops - hate 'em. I really dislike any feature on a car that limits usability, even on a model. But this one? This one has really grown on me. Somehow it all looks right. I can't quite put my finger on it. But I dig it. Looking forward to more.
  7. I've had this kit a couple of times, but that wonky molded front drivers door line overlap makes me chuck it back on the pile until it ends up traded away.
  8. Ummm............no. A twelve year old can get away with unpainted models. Not an adult who clearly has some skills. I realize this guy does some traveling for his job, but we have a couple of guys on this forum who are hotel builders, that turn out great painted product. Not impressed.
  9. Very well done. I'll be following along.
  10. One or two active builds. Of my modest 75 kit stash about 30% have seen some sort of attention.
  11. Looks a bit too corny for me.
  12. Quite right. Salt is not good for most anything long term, and it's quite obvious there is still quite a lot of it trapped in the paint, on the roof, doors, fenders and tailgate. I have no idea what will happen to the body over time like that. Maybe nothing, maybe it will ruin paint and plastic. I'd scrub the body with a stiff toothbrush and some 70% (or 91% if the paint is thick) Isopropyl alcohol (very cheap at the local drug store). The alcohol with loosen the paint just enough (but not tear it up) to release the salt and give a smooth paint break when it does. I give you full credit for trying something like this at age 12, and I've overjoyed to have you in the hobby. The hardest part of successful model building is patience. I know that's a tall order at your age because it still is, at mine. If I can offer any help feel free to shoot me a PM.
  13. I like it. You obviously used the salt technique. It's also obvious that there is still salt left in the paint. I'm not sure what effect that will have long term.
  14. Outstanding work.
  15. Dude if you are gonna drop a model like that, that clearly has a story, please tell us a little about it. In any case, it's very nicely done. A thumbs up from me.
  16. Well guys this is as far as I got before I disassembled the engine and dumped the whole shebang in the dip. It looks cool, but the plumbing for the turbo was becoming an increased problem with regards to the intercooler. So the intake will be redesigned to use a top mount intercooler. No shortie tubes, no tubes close to tires. It will also be more visible in the engine bay, more aesthetically pleasing. Luckily this is the only mod for the whole model. More soon.
  17. Cool choice. I did that wagon for the Sleeperball. If you are going to use the AMC inline 6, check out the one from the MPC coupe. I'm told it's a better version of the engine.
  18. You have my attention sir. Is this for the Cannonball?
  19. Your Nomad is a 35 year old kit. The Bel Air kit is maybe five year old. The chrome will likely be top notch. As for the fit ................... no idea, but it should be close.
  20. No. Straight from your hard drive. Look for the paper clip icon in the reply window.
  21. I think this is definitely a case of, "yeah, you could, but why would you". BUT, the world of custom vehicles is full or cars that make no sense whatsoever, but are revered as classics. If we're gonna accept the "art" of the Mysterion, we're forced to just accept that slant as some skilled fabricator just showing off a little. Does it make sense? No. Is it trick? Yep, looks cool. I think Ed Roth would dig it. I rest my case.
  22. I'm curious. How much did you spend on sheer material for that Camaro. It looks like a solid block.

    30 A-Bone

I wouldn't change a thing. I saw this one on FB, and I'm a fan of this one. It's realistic and very cleanly done.
