  1. Finally some paint. This will b a patina rod so after a week or so of gassing out and hardening, I'll start distressing the paint. Changed my plan from black/green to grey/green for the interior, so some stripping in the works. I'm split on the nature of the finish though. The gloss clear over patina is a popular trend and a great way to preserve the car from futher damage. Or just some flat clear. Opinions welcomed.
  2. And finally - paint. It's a pale green. This will be a patina rod so after a week or so of gassing out and hardening (Krylon enamel), I'll start to distress the paint. I was originally going for a black with dark green interior but because of the limited light in the interior bcause of the window size, the interior turned onto a black hole. I'll strip the black and go for a primer grey and dark green, with a little clear. More soon.
  3. Casey digs up another decade old thread. Let me get a dust rag.
  4. I think it does. However, economic times are different. Folks just can't take off on a lark without some sort of support. Were I a man of means, I would certainly do something similar, but I'm more of a car guy.
  5. Great work on a really nice kit.
  6. Very authentic. I really like it.
  7. Terrific work. I like it a lot.
  8. Outstanding work.
  9. A challenge will get you building, but inspiration keeps you building. We'll see how this pans out. I have two builds to finish before I even think about another.
  10. You'de be surprised how many people will loose interest in a model where they are too limited artistically. The idea is to encourage building a model but not limit them so much, it's not finished.
  11. Also it seems to me, at this point he's employing people to built toys for him. At what point is he going to generate revenue? He could pull in business on name recognition alone.
  12. I've always liked the car and I have the kit. Not sure how I'm going to build it.
  13. For me to consider rebuilding a glue bomb, it has to be something very hard to come by. And the glass/tail lights need to be a decenet shape. This was the last one I did and the next one is a 60 Desoto.
  14. Anyone caught his new show yet? I just set it up to record last night.
  15. Updated photos on the Willys. A relocation of the intercooler to the firewall, to take advantgae of the vent in the hood, prompted a redesign of the intake. Rather than another scratch intake, I'm using the stock intake. I'll fabricate a throttle body to go in place of the carb and a fuel rail on the intake runners.

  17. Pat, your likely to be disappointed a bit. The new verison isn't nearly so flashy. Pics this afternoon. I've very happy to see the new faces and excellent ingenuity going on here. A note on street legal. The rule for the Cannonball has always been simple, headligts, tail lights, and a licence plate. Now if someday someone builds something so alien that no one with a brain would believe it could be titled for street use, we may have to revisit the rule. So far, so good. I see no issues with the new builds suggested. Carry on.
  18. Welcome. We have a decent group of factory stock builders here, so you are in good company.
  19. Isn't there a Greased Lightning convertible being released?
  20. Nope, no air cleaner included. Let me see if I can find mine (from Lindberg 330) tonight. If I have it, I'll send it to you. Shoot me an address via PM and I'll get it in the mail. http://round2corp.com/model-kit-instructions/
  21. I've zero interest in silly show cars. They bother me. The Cheetah though. We've only been clamoring for the model companies to make this for 50 years. I'd be happy to see those.
  22. Happy to hear it. Thanks for adopting.
  23. Doubtful. If a fella goes to the show with $500 in his pockets, he's headed for the swap meet. Also, a person who goes to ebay looking for a "pro-built" model, he's got an understanding of what he's likely to pay. Joe Hot Rod at the show just sees a painted $20 model kit and is unlikely to shell out to get one. Back in the 90's I had the same idea as you. So I asked around my local shows (100's of owners) and got one client. I got a meager $250 for 40+ hours work, and the model lasted exactly one weekend with the new owner. He went to a show, opened the hood and set the model on the air cleaner. He spent the evening, closed the hood, drove home. He called me the next day asking if I knew a chemical to get melted enamel off the aluminum intake. These guys who make big $ on ebay, (generally) do first rate work. They have built up a reputation and have usual customers (with deep pockets) who collect their work as art. Likely they are retired, using this to suppliment their income.
