  1. Snake. Looks like another one of your collectible purchases is coming back! http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/topic/165245-2022-round2-releases/?do/findComment&comment/2586373
  2. "As far as they know." I'm glad they were sooo concerned about the outcome of somebody else besides themselves. Irresponsible drivers like him shouldn't even have a driver's license, putting lives in danger over an unsafe car is inexcusable. Liability insurance only, eh? Lawsuit for sure! "Can't afford to hand it off"? Too bad. I hope it sits like it is in his driveway for decades, as a reminder that Stupidity is costly! I don't have any sympathy.
  3. "This video is possibly graphic in nature and we're not doing it for the the sensationalism." Then why did they show the crash first and then have the warning? 208 thousand dollars and can't afford to thoroughly check the braking system? He kept talking about harnesses. Seat belts wouldn't have slowed that car at all! The two most important safety issues on any car - acceleration and braking, were questionable at the beginning and they drove it (fast) anyway? NO EMERGENCY BRAKE???!! All they kept talking about was THEIR injuries and their car - What about the injuries of the people and the car they rear ended? I hope they get sued big time for their stupidity. And this video is downloaded as exhibit #1. They confessed their guilt about the whole needless incident!
  4. Hmm, not sure if this question will give too much away, but.... If Jamie is in charge of the Sci-Fi, TV and Movie stuff, what department does John direct? I feel like I'm in a game of "What's My Line"!
  5. How straight was it before you started? Hard enough to find acetate promos without any warp to them. Can't figure out what can be done to preserve them at all! My research shows that acetate actually comes from a wood pulp base and is never completely stable, thus is always prone to warping. I've thought about doing a conversion from a 57, using all the unique parts from a 58. Why don't you try doing that using the parts you have left over?
  6. I have also heard that the big block engine from this annual ended up in the 61 Ranchero. For what it's worth.
  7. I always called these the sand dollar wheels, cause that's what they look like to me.
  8. Ah, I looked up your location. Now I see how you got it! Be sure to share more builds of kits from the "rising sun", especially with the boxes.
  9. Never seen this kit before, you made it look good. Only thing that bothers me is they made the tires too tall for this kind of car.
  10. Great cars, Terry! "Light Commercial" was one of my favorite series. Looked forward to it every month. Please share those builds again here for the benefit of us who would like to see them again and for those who never saw them before.
  11. Remember that workhorse trucks are bought for WORK. If an engine eventually breaks, the owners can and will use whatever replacement engine will get the job done! Doubt there are many high mileage "numbers matching" retired rigs. If you're building a wheathered veteran, use whatever engine suits your needs. Make up the story to go with it. All is good!
  12. Steve's silence is deafening! I sure hope I'm right (I'm 92% sure I am). I've wanted to build one of the original Super Spy cars ever since I first heard they existed, but there was no way I could ever afford one. This would fulfill a major "grail" for me, and many others - no doubt! Bonus is I wouldn't have to try to convert one from a DB4 I already have. Since they've already recreated the International 4070A, a smaller kit like this would be a cakewalk to do. Please Steve, tell us what it is, the suspense is killing me!
  13. Instead of bending it and risking breaking it or messing up the chrome, try just cutting a notch in the middle and bending it back into shape, then a drop of super glue to hold it there. Did someone say "Deliverance"? ?
  14. I thought that's what most of them would be sold for! Seems to be where most of the real ones went.
  15. Doesn't need to be cloned, they still have the tool. I agree, it would be an easy fix to correct the emblems (if they can get permission) and wheels/tires to the original issue. Probably can never go back to the original box with the band on it - royalties can be a pain!
  16. By the looks of the driver, it probably ruined his new carpet. ? And now he's gotta clean up the mess he made!
  17. Ask and you shall receive. Just found this online.
  18. Motorcycles too!
  19. While watching the above video, it looks like the engine exploded in the back before the truck rolled over. Very tragic, but it shows the inherent danger involved in extreme racing.
  20. When I was a kid, this is what Poison Pinto looked like to me. Not sure which came first. While I'm not a huge fan of caricature kits, there are a few I would like to try my hand at someday. Tijuana Taxi. Dog Catcher. Boot Hill Express. I got a few of the Bad Actor and Garbage Truck and Paddy Wagon, but just can't get interested enough to build them box stock. But I have cut up Bad Actor for accurate delivery wagons and I'd like to try to redo the Paddy Wagon into a sleeker street rod. Now SweeTee is another story, I'd build a few of them. They look like real street rods! As far as a waste of plastic, I disagree, they add variety to the modeling table and that's a good thing. Not everybody builds what I like - that's called Freedom! "Modelling junk food", I like that description!
  21. I sure hate it when those crazy islands jump out in front of me!
