  1. Well don't fret Tim, Eleanor isn't even a 73. It's a 71 with a 73 grille - and a massive roll cage! Look at the front bumper.
  2. The "Longhorn" edition was Chevy's answer to the "Camper Special" by Ford (or was it the other way around?). Wheelbase was lengthened to increase load capacity for a big camper on the back. Looking at the pictures, it appears the additional length was added only in the front of a longbed box. Doesn't look like the back end was any longer. Curious if the pocket door on the side was for a spare tire like it was on the Ford? Maybe too small. Long Horn edition. Longbed F350 Camper Special.
  3. Those headlights look 1000x better than the all chrome originals!
  4. What about mohair upholstery? Wasn't that 30s, or was it earlier? Leather was used, but colors were limited. IIRC, leather was in brown, gray, red and dark green.
  5. I remember them from the 69 Grand Prix my dad had built when I was a kid. Loved those tires. The kit was cool too. He had painted it avocado green appliance paint, but I remember it having a good look to it. Wish I still had it today.
  6. The red one was the stock 3500 dually and the black one was the 1500 long bed.
  7. To me it just looks like regular silver. I guess it would hold up to handling though. I really liked how he flowed black into the grooves around the trim to make it stand out more, never saw that done before.
  8. Fagen is still alive, well and touring as the last original member of the "Dan". Walter Becker is the one who passed.
  9. Must be something wrong with it, as they keep issuing the puller. Can't believe it would be too hard to restore the Blazer, since most of the stock parts are in the pickup. All they need to make is the top and the back seat. At the very least, make the top and seat and we'll do the rest.
  10. Even if it's powered by a Cleveland 4v and not a 429, it's still a good choice! The engine alone is worth the price of admission, the rest is just bonus. Not that they'd do it, but I'd like to see a Sprint, Or an Eleanor!
  11. Whelp, that clinches it. I'm going to have to get the Camaro kit, even if only for the decal sheet. I've got a few kits that can definitely use the extras! I'm so glad they brought out the 80-81 and not another 78 again, this year has been sorely lacking in 1/25 scale.
  12. I'm enjoying seeing all your builds, many I recall from past publications. So great having you share them again here.
  13. Defiantly? Lock him up, he's so reckless!
  14. First time I saw it was in the late 80s early 90s, parked in one of the handicap spots near the front of the building. Last time I took my family there was 7-8 years ago and it was still there!
  15. Let's just hope that truck doesn't smell like your old shoes. ?
  16. I agree! I don't mind the quickie aspect of the Snap Fast series, or even snappers in general if they are of unusual and offbeat subjects not available anywhere else. I just don't pine for them when they are just "redeux" of common multiple kits like Corvettes, Camaros and 57 Chevys.
  17. Sounds like it's going to look like the one on the box, if it's the color I think it is. Good choice!
  18. That's not trim, that's out and out flares! I don't know why they put those on the body, there is nothing on the real car that sticks out that much. I've worked on two of these kits and had to sand down those shelving units before I did anything else! I love these cars (who doesn't?) and can't wait to see yours come along.
  19. I like the base model aspect. Nice to see the daily driver's getting some love. Reminds me of a base model, faded, six cylinder 3 speed Camaro that was a staple in the parking lot of the Griffith Observatory in Los Angeles. Saw it there for years (maybe decades). Word has it, it belonged to a long time employee. If you've ever been there - you probably saw it! Question. Didn't the 327 engines have specific valve covers? The ones with the beveled top and the square space in the middle for the decal? Not criticizing, just asking.
  20. Looks like the rest of the body grew out of the hood! That hood was the first thing I noticed and I can't unsee it so I can enjoy the rest of the car. I'd have to get rid of the vent holes just to eliminate the visual identity of its origin. But that's just me.
  21. Racing stripes notwithstanding, that's the first in a looonnngg while that I've seen a FB Mustang that hasn't been "Shelby cloned". I'm digging the standard Fastbacks more than the Shelby lookalikes, as they're a dime-a-dozen nowadays.
  22. It's a pretty straight shape, probably easy enough to bend a sheet of .040 plastic or aluminum to get the basic shape and then file the curves front and rear.
