  1. I'd take any of the above to complete the series. Make the bodies separate tooling, so they can all be reissued at any given time. And "Pah'leeze" include the passenger window options on them as well as the 3 rows of seats. Extra cargo stuff would be nice too. Tool cabinets, motorcycles, loveseats, sinks, refrigerators, beds, bubble "heart" windows, raised camping roofs, panel and mural decals, the works! Possibility of not including all of them at one time, but group them into package themes and issue them as different kits. Ya' know, "milk that cash cow"! Keep the reissues busy for years to come. Here's another idea - tool up the optional parts as groups and include them in future releases of the Ford and Chevy vans: A passenger van set with windows, drapes, bench seats, captains seats and luggage. A camping van set with stove, fridge, sink, tents, fire pit, sleeping bags, roof vent, A workvan set with tool chests, cabinets, loose tools, lawn mower, leaf blower, clip board and boxes with notes and businesses fliers. An off-road set with bikes, buggies, watercraft, fishing and scuba gear. And a couple cases of the "barley bubbly" in the Igloo ice chest! The Rec. Van set with high-top roof cap, A/C unit, and various select choices of gear from any of the above sets. I.E: rear bench seat with table, refrigerator, sink and stove and a motorcycle. Or dune buggy, captains seats, ice chest and tool box with various loose tools. Design the tooling with modular inserts and parts could be swapped from set to set. How about an "Uncle Rico" issue? Put the matching parts from the list above into a special edition box set. And finally the Premium 1970s Vannin' set with bubble windows, sky lights, waterbed, pillows, beanbags, bar set, T.V., giant 8-track and reel-to-reel sound system, chandelier, mirrors, wine bottles, nautical theme walls and cabinets and a ship's wheel for steering. For extra points, include a big sheet of adhesive fuzzy fur for the floor and walls. This set alone would make a price bump acceptable for the amount of creative ideas it would provide. Future plans could include each of these as a parts pack set to sell individually. These are ideas to keep these kits moving for years to come! Steve G. are you listening?
  2. I'm really enjoying all of your famous replica builds. Please consider adding all of them to the TV and Movie thread.
  3. Bringing this topic back up because Hobby Lobby has other paint pens available and a few in chrome. I'm wondering if anyone has had success with any of these. Especially the Rustoleum Chrome pen. Prices seem reasonable $3.99 for the DecoColor to $9.99 for the Rustoleum.
  4. Speaking of vinyl wrap, I've noticed some chrome looking vinyl in the paper craft section of Hobby Lobby. It's meant for various uses, like cards, scrapbooking, and even ironed on to T-shirts, but I wonder if it could be coerced onto model surfaces and if a little warm air from a hair drier would help it snuggle down. Anybody ever seen or used it before? I've also seen other shiny sheets of films in other departments, but am not sure how they'd work either. So if anyone has tried any of them, let us know.
  5. Well that's, umm, interesting. I think he did a better job on the Nash/Healy, at least that looks like a sports car. And he spent 80k in 1950s money on it? I don't think it's been hiding, I think someone was too ashamed to drive it!
  6. From what I see, if any kit has been out of production for longer than 10 minutes, Ebay prices go through the roof. Many times, their prices are absurd even when the kits are currently IN production. Like Barrett-Jackson, Ebay is usually not a good place for bargains anymore. Sellers have the idea that anything they have is valuable and that any buy-it-now price they put is an easy sale. I must be one of the few that adds the costs of fees and shipping to the total price of what they're selling. So I don't buy from there much. I still find deals at kit shows and swap meets and at antique stores and garage sales, so prices for those old kits aren't "etched in stone". You just have to look in other places besides the easy spots. BTW, I have a Firebird funny car body, I just don't build cars like that, so I don't see $50-$80 for it. I'm sure there are other builders who place a realistic value based on their interest in it and not what Ebay says it's worth.
  7. For a period piece, I think you're right on the money!
  8. Why does a chicken coop have two doors? Because if it had four doors, it would be a chicken sedan!
  9. It does seem dated and in fact customs were out of vogue by 1968, so it seems strange that an old 50s custom - with 60s Torque Thrusts, no less, would be trotted out that late in the decade. Most were dumped by then.
  10. Except the photo is dated 1968 - long after the kit was first released. Maybe he was inspired by the kit?
  11. Do they have the 40% off coupon?
  12. I like the magnet idea for the hood hinges. I've never liked doing opening doors as glued in one position only, I like them to be open or closed. The magnet idea seems like a good compromise. I'm going to have to steal that idea for some projects I have, Steve. Did anyone ever make photoetch hinges that folded?
  13. And this is what happened when they weren't maintained. KaBooom!!! A boiler that can't boil, makes for a very bad day!
  14. It's not just hanging there, it's got the belt holding it up! ?
  15. Nice, classy, period looking colors. All of them. ??
  16. I'd be interested it this if nobody else has claimed it. Would you be interested in a trade? PM me.
  17. That's the second sure way to make it stick! ?
  18. Hey, no politics here!!! ?
  19. I'm thinking a black metallic or charcoal grey metallic followed by a few coats of candy red, just may do the trick.
  20. Hey Tim, any reason why the car has two seats? Was 'Ol Geo really supposed to carry a passenger down the 1320? Wouldn't that also affect the weight distribution too?
  21. That's quite a savings from the initial retail price quote of $91.00 a few months ago. Once it gets into the mainstream pipeline, price will probably be lower!
