  1. Fascinating information guys. Thanks for the comments!
  2. I think Revell at one time had a model of a submarine with a fully detailed interior. Now that would be cool! I enjoy models of other subjects (planes, tanks, ships, helicopters), but I don't build them because I don't have a working knowledge of how all the details are supposed to look. I can't get into super-detailing them and custom isn't in their vocabulary. I remember a looonnngg time ago, a friend gave me a built up of a Huey Hog molded in olive green. Being a car guy, I wanted to repaint it... In metallic burgundy! Not exactly the best idea in taste. I never did that again. And the helicopter ended up in the junk heap soon after that. So, I guess I'm one of those who eats, drinks and breathes cars. Trucks too! Maybe someday, if I'm inspired.
  3. You should've put it in hot water to shrink it first! ?
  4. I've heard they haven't determined the cause yet. Possible heart attack or fall down the stairs. Hard to say much because of who she's related to and we don't want to be political. I pray for comfort for her grieving family.
  5. With the kinds of problems they're having, you'd think they just began building cars recently. Never understood how they can have recalls on things they've been doing for decades. I mean really - failing window seals? seat belt retractors? automatic daytime running lamp failure? Electronics overheating under the back seat? I'm surprised they don't have recalls on the redesigned wheel, where they keep getting stuck on the FLAT sides! No need to worry, you can't buy a new car anyway, your dealership doesn't have any cars on their lot to sell. There are no computer chips available. At least we have plenty of foolproof electric cars around. What???
  6. That explains a lot of why their designs now have no individuality or creativity. Bean counting at it's finest.
  7. Try asking in the wanted section, there's probably a few of those 66 Chevelles in many parts boxes around here.
  8. I don't know if it's painted black and clear-coated or just clear, but you may have to strip all of the paint off. There's a possibility of paint incompatibility and you risk the chance of paint crazing when you go to refinish it. Then again, there's also a possibility you could damage the plastic by stripping the paint off. Just be careful! Try to find out what material the plastic is before you start. With all those cracks, it looks very brittle.
  9. Use the chassis from the flip-front 57-60 Corvette kits. That should get you most of the way there. And if you have the MPC 60 Corvette - it's almost the same kit!
  10. It's like radar. Adam can smell loser cars a mile away! ?
  11. Seems like a lot of beautiful work just to wreck it. Does give me some ideas to adapt to plastic. Thanks for sharing.
  12. General Motors sponsored design contest from the 50s to sometime in the 70s. Some good looking ideas here. http://www.deansgarage.com/2009/fisher-body-craftsman’s-guild-part-ii/ http://www.deansgarage.com/category/car-design/
  13. You should put it in a case. Looks like dusting it would be a major pain.
  14. Hope he was insured. And didn't have a stuck throttle and bad brakes! ?
  15. Funny, and I even commented on it! Must've had a brain fart.
  16. After the crash? First I've heard about the reissue - Time to add it to "The Rumour Mill".
  17. Excessive speed, failure to yield, failure to stop, driving without seatbelts, unsafe brakes, no emergency brakes, illegal ground clearance, illegal headlights, excessive noise and depending on the state - failed or nonexistent vehicle inspection certificate.
  18. They're still in a bunch of current AMT and MPC kits. You just have to know which ones. 68 Camaro and 71 Mustang (yellow car on box) come to mind, most likely others too.
  19. I've seen a lot of real Impala's that looked exactly like that. Very satisfying!
  20. Those don't just happen, that takes careful planning, trimming, fitting and sanding. Good job!!
  21. AFAICT, the truck was white, as was the interior as well. Adam, I had this kit when I was a kid. Enjoyed the heck out of it. But the decals are lacking, as they don't cover all the little corners like the prototype shows. It would probably be better to paint all those stripes on for a correct look.
  22. I don't think that this is the same truck. The original Cali Sunshine truck was not chopped and the wheel base also looks lengthened on the box side. This truck also has more red paint underneath than the original one had. Here are more shots of that beat up truck for sale. Look at these pics and tell me if this one is the same.
