Many thanks all, I appreciate your feedbacks! Thanks Bruce, I guess there are 2 "secrets" to "overcome" this kit. First, and as you mentioned, make it a curbside. There is no other way, or the back to the car will always look like an elephant stepped onto it. Second, do glue all outer (body) parts together at the earliest stage possible or you will have fit issues and giant gaps. However, in order to make this possible, it might take a lot of cutting and some sawing... ? -
Hi there, this kit is replicating the 1991 predecessor of the 1992 and 1993 Le Mans winning car. This kit is "greatly feared" (mostly) among European builders of 1/24 racing/ Group C cars. In brief words, the kit seems to offer a lot of detail (e.g. the V 10 engine) but fails to deliver in even the most basic aspects. For instance, the engine hood does not fit at all, which is not a small issue on a Group C car. So from the get-go, it was clear for me that this could be done only curbside, with all parts glued and shut as much as possible. I ran into some fitting issues anyway, but eventually succeeded in passing this "test of patience and character". ?

Another racing beauty from your capable hands... well done! -
Hi Harry, this looks a fine model, especially with all the issues you mentioned. Did you use the 1K clear from Zero Paints? I do not recommend that from my own experience. The 2K is way better. Is there any reason you did not use the kit's decals for the red lines on the body edges and the "Italian stripes"? They would have added some nice accents, I believe.

Very nice. Great choice of color and paint/ polish job, and realistic-looking panel lines (as always with your builds).

Hi Pierre, I agree on all of the above: you did a great job on this simple old kit to make it look a FABULOUS model! I especially like the washing you did on the rear panel, makes it look like PE mesh - amazing. I looked up my stash to find I have an old (1992) issue of this kit with decals that have not aged well. But it shouldn't be a problem, those decals are pretty simply to print on my own. Your build will definitely be a template to me for achieving a better result! By the way, I also found a Chaparral 2C kit by Imai. Supposedly a re-release of an old LS kit from the 60's. It has even less parts... and much too small tyres. But the body does look good! It's this kit: https://www.scalemates.com/kits/arii-11123-1200-chaparral-2c--129594

Okay... So it's been nearly 4 1/2 years since I last posted in this WIP. And that's exactly for how long the kit has been sleeping in a box. I've been doing lots of other stuff during that time. I built a LOT of vintage US cars, something I'd never done before. And some race cars and a selection of JDM and European sports cars. (Feel free to click the Scalemates link below to check them out, if you like.) Anyway, I'd like to move forward with this build now. I remember all your kind support while I was at it in 2018, and people asking whether it's been finished or not, even years after. I really appreciate the interest and would be happy if you'd follow me along during the next steps, which will hopefully lead to the finished model! I started off slowly... had to check out where exactly I was when I took the break. I remember that the modification of the wheels to the chassis was a bit exhausting. I am using a lot of aftermarket parts for this kit, as Fujimi did just as much wrong on this kit. The wheels are 18 inches from Scale Production with a metal center part. I had to work out a way how to fix the brakes inside of them and and then fix the brake/ wheel to the chassis. This is where I am now. Front brakes: Rear brakes: This is how I plan on doing it... The "spacers" have beens scratch-build: This is what the metal wheel center looks like from the inside. One of my concerns is to have enough stability after glueing the spacer to it... This is how the rims look now. The black outer ring will be painted in silver later. Even though stored in a closed box for the whole time, the body could use a little cleaning and waxing: More to come soon!

Many thanks guys, I appreciate it! Thanks a lot Pierre! No, the Hasegawa is a curbside at it's best. The Tamiya 962 is much more detailed but it is still curbside, and it has the downside of the factory glued-in clear parts which need to be masked for painting. -
Thank guys for your kind words! In fact the decals were a bit of work, but not really that bad. All the segments were designed a bit longer (overlapping) in order to make them "meet". The kit itself however, is not very well designed. It's below Hasegawa's usual standard and certainly only second choice after the Tamiya C9 kit!

Almost poetry! ? I second your opinion and I like the fact that you consider that this has to do with one's own age too. The Porsche is built and painted just excellent, lovely model - Tamiya or not! -
Congrats Mario, beautiful build! ? The color reminds me very much of this one:

Hi Anders, great craftmanship as usual. The rims are are touch too big for my personal taste, they appear to be 21" or 22" to me. But as I said, personal taste. No doubt about this being a well-built and -painted model! Does "horrid" refer to the build-up in general? I can't see too many downsides, apart from the headlights looking not so much spot-on and the Porsche badge being a bit too big?

Many thanks Anders!
