  1. Thanks. It wasn't as bad as some I've done. The Super Clean softened up the old putty and the original builder didn't use a whole tube of glue to attach the parts so they mostly snapped off but I did have to use a saw in a few spots.
  2. Clean! Exceptional build. I'm not a big Mopar guy but I'll get one of those kits.
  3. Great save. The color combo is perfect for this Merc.
  4. Thanks all! I appreciate you good words on this one. I stepped out of my comfort zone here and tried a few new techniques and styling ideas I hadn't done before.
  5. Calling this one done. Been a long ride and I'm happy with the result. Here it is, warts and all. I started with this old ebay built up. Ended up with this.I had more before shots but they are missing from Fotki at this time. If interested here's a link to what's left of the build photos. http://public.fotki.com/bigfordpilot/my_built_model_cars/built_models/in_progress/black_62/
  6. I was 7 years old growing up in the sticks of Long Island, watching this fair being built from the LIE on the way to my grandparents house in Queens.
  7. Those skirts a perfect for it. Looking good so far.
  8. I would but most of them are missing from Fotki right now.
  9. Excellent period color choice and solid build. Nicely done.
  10. To add what everyone else said, A good, well lit, comfortable place to work. One that you don't have to pack away after every session.Throw in a radio and small TV if possible.
  11. Nice. I like how you upgraded the Cafe kit to 99 specs.True to what was going on in the 1:1 Fox model Mustang world then and now. BTW - my barracks room had a wall, door and a table.
  12. Try doing an internet search of, for example "how to build model cars". You'll find all kinds of info relating to the questions you've asked. Like Erik said above, "that's a big question".
  13. FYI - FoMoCo designated them 2 Dr. Hardtops from 1965 up to and including 1978. When the new "FOX" body was introduced (1979-93), they where officially designated 2Dr Sedan. The term coupe officially began with the introduction of the SN 95 platform in 1994. The terms coupe, notch, notch back and trunk are common lexicon and interchangeable for this body style but not technically "correct". As always, this is my opinion. Yours may differ.
  14. Sharp!
  15. For me it's interiors. Just not my favorite area. I truly envy builders that excel with upholstery and radio knobs!
  16. Agreed. With just about every police department and government service in the civilized world using them I'm amazed there was never a full detail P 71 kit produced. The lindberg builds up fairly nice with some work but I'd really like a kit of the newer and last model. My Lindberg. The wheels and caps are from the Modehaus I did this one from a Testor's die cast kit. The kit was for a marked NYPD unit. I stripped the body and painted it Duplicolor Toreador red
  17. Nice job. Good to see one of these built up so well.
  18. Hard to beat a D Jag or a 356 in it's purest form but here's my contribution. A toss up for me.
  19. Good start, you definitely captured the look you're going after. I like it.
  20. Idea - Research - Parts and supply acquisition - put it all together.
  21. So after a few years in a box while I got distracted on other projects I put this Ford back on the bench with the goal of finishing it. I decided to go with 60 Merc front and rear grills cut and trimmed to fit. Smooth rolled pans are also molded in. 64 Galaxie seats and custom head rests. I like the "Jetsons" look here. It'll have a 64 Marauder dash. After shaving off all the stock chrome trim I thought the body sides needed something so I made a thin trim spear out of T shaped strip styrene. Still need to do some sanding and shaping. That's about where I am with it as of today. I'm having fun rattling ideas around for it. As always comments and suggestions welcome!
  22. Great work! Looks good from where I sit! Just an awesome build of an equally awesome subject, Well done.
