The hood needs a little bit added on at the rear edges where it meets the body and the exhaust slots don't line up properly. There is no lip that I can see on the radiator grill for the front of the hood to sit on, so I made the top hood and sides into a one piece deal. All comments or suggestions welcome.

I managed to get most of it separated despite the enormous amount of glue used to hold it together. I pinned and epoxied the one windshield post (which was still glued to the windshield frame) back on. Thankfully he didn't scrape the chrome off before glueing it. I made a metal template of the windshield frame and am using it to shape and locate the new post since the kit piece is very delicate and slightly warped. It still needs final shaping, but I think I will leave it off until I get some other body work done.

I picked up this at a flea market last year because I really like the looks of these cars. The Previous Owner had started assembling it and made a few errors. The front axle assembly was installed above the frame instead of straddling it. This led to a huge gap between the frame and the body which the PO tried to fill with glue. The rear springs were installed backwards and both windshield posts were snapped off. One post was gone.

You're welcome! I used a hand held hair dryer and I bent it around the handle of my bench vise.

Nice work! That does look a bunch better than the original design

So it's not a model... but....

Thanks Ray, that suggestion seems to work!

This is bare plastic I am working on. So...no way to easily prevent the "magnetism"? I have had it happen before, and just sanded the area with #3000 for cleanup. I will try the alcohol next time.

Has anyone had this happen? I have scribed some panel lines deeper on a model. When I go to put the black Tamiya panel line accent to it, the accent seems to be attracted to the plastic and "jumps" off the brush about 1/8" before I can touch the panel line, and gets all over the place. Static electricity is no doubt to blame, but how do I prevent it???

This winter I made an extension for my dehydrator and I put everything in there including the paint can to warm up before painting. -
Is this your fathers Oldsmobile?

You really have to wonder WTH is going on inside some peoples heads to think that monstrosity is pleasing in any way! And yet it looks like it was done by somebody with some skills, not just a 5 gallon pail of bondo and a trowel. -
Thanks. Yes, this one comes with the two engines, different wheels and tires, an optional custom grill and my decals are different again. What kind of glue is best for these two-piece tires...or do the halves even get glued?
-
That looks like it will. It is not exactly the same, but close enough to figure everything out. The Hot Rod kit also has an optional supercharged 421 Pontiac engine, but I am missing one cylinder head at least for it. Thanks a million!

Does anyone know where I could get a set of assembly instructions for this kit? I'll wing it if I have to, but there are a lot of small parts!

Absolutely Beautiful Peter! Is the script on the hood and tail fins done with gold BMF or painted?

That looking darn nice! I remember my Mother telling us as kids about a 1:1 car that my Dad made into a truck. She would always start giggling when describing it. I don't imagine it looked any where near as good as yours does.

Canadian location for photoetched parts

There should be no duty on it if it was a USA made item. Brokerage fee is something that UPS always tried to charge me, but I would notify them as soon as I had a tracking number to "hold at depot, buyer will do brokerage". Then would go there, pick up the paperwork and take it to the local customs office and pay the GST. When I show UPS that the taxes are paid they release the shipment. This worked well for me because I could leave work anytime and all were in the same area. For vendors that offer free shipping to the lower 48 states, I would get it shipped to a parcel service just across the border and go pick it up from there. Greg -
That one is a Revell "skips fiesta drive-in series". I painted it Testors blazing black extreme laquer and wet look clear out of the can. When I started it, I thought it was going to be the worst of the bunch. Turns out I like it the best. I never realized how freakishly small the headlights on the AMT are until I put them side by side! Thanks for the comments All !

Super nice job on this! I just bought this kit and you've given me something to aspire to.
