I managed to screw up the paint job on this one too while trying to clean the paint off the foil. I have to fab a new windshield for this, as the kit piece is too thick

Well I have finally got this painted to my satisfaction. It's far from perfect, but good enough for these eyes. I switched from those Vallejo paints which are actually made for painting scale figurines I believe, to Testors spray paints. The flakes in the1837 revving red stood out a little to much for my liking, so I put a coat of translucent red over top, then the Gloss Coat after foiling it.

I am currently working on 4 models. Impatience is my worst enemy. I find if I have multiples on the go, I can leave one alone while things dry. Or I can set it aside and reflect on what I want to do.

Thanks Scott!

How to measure wheel/tire size
NOBLNG replied to R.D.F.'s topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
You need to get one of these. A cheap one from harbor freight would work. they are also available in a digital style. -
Well I did raise the roof a tad, but in the process of handling it I managed to break both door handles that I had carefully hollowed out. so now it is sans door handles. I have re-painted it with a Testors red. I may try to fab some door handles to glue on later, or maybe not? Pics to follow.

I just tried again with all my security features turned off and still no go. A message pops up in the "recaptcha" box that says: "Could not connect to the reCAPTCHA service. Please check your internet connection and reload to get a reCAPTCHA challenge." If I try to contact the administrator on the SMC forum page it says I am not logged in! Well, I can't log in because I am not registered, and I can't register because their security system is broken. Oh well, I guess they don't want new members.

black detailer on chrome. Improvement.

I definitely like it! It may be just a little heavy on the Chevy, but it does look better than the '32? -
I will take one shot at raising the roof a hair as per Richards suggestion. If it doesn't work the first try, I will live with it as is. Since I already snapped the driver's side, I am first reinforcing the vent windows with some .040 half round. It will not be noticeable after it is painted. The wife didn't like the color, and I must say I am not that impressed either. But... with a coat of Testors transparent red on top it looks much nicer!

Is anyone a member of the scalemotorcars forum? I have tried to register, but keep getting a "you must pass the human verification" message. I think the "recaptcha" feature is blocking me? I have tried sending two e-mails to them, but have gotten no response. If anyone is a member, could you please PM the moderators to check it? Thanks in advance! Wow! fabulous job Guy! I have trouble pulling off a single color paint job.

Nicely done! I think it is harder to get a realistic looking weathering job than a show-car shine.

I know Spaz Stix makes a clear surface pre -prep #90050. I don't know if it would work on resin?
-
Could you tie it down to the dehydrator grate with braided fishing line or string?
-
I see what you mean. I heated it slightly with a hair dryer and promptly snapped the vent window divider. I think I moved it slightly so it is barely noticeable. The hot water trick would undoubtedly work better with a more uniform heated area...but I didn't want to mess up the paint!

That is not the primer, that is the Vallejo black-red. It came out waay flatter than I expected! That is it on the right hand spoon with Testors Gloss Coat on top. The LH spoon is the burnt red that I was also considering, but I thought it looked too much like primer. I just gave it a light sanding with #3000... seems to sand OK. I think if I can do a decent job of foiling the bumpers and trim, it will really make the paint pop!

Pininfarina Battista
NOBLNG replied to Richard Bartrop's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I think it looks sexy! I will pass though, as we have only maybe 0.5 seconds worth of straight road without a pothole. -
My wife just got her guitar re-strung and I asked her to save the old strings. I read on here that some guys use the solid strings and hypodermic tubing for radio antennas. I noticed that the wrapping around the other strings can be removed to make very tiny springs as well.

Very nice! I love the story as much as the model!
