  1. I have found some useful info on old threads and it would be a shame if they were deleted. Given the fact that everyone born after the computer age searches the web for what ever they want to know, it is nice to see answers that are based on real-life experience instead of regurgitated googles.
  2. Thanks for the foil and Balsa wood tips Guys! My very first attempt turned out pretty good I think. I used the eraser end of a pencil to press the foil down between the numbers. The Balsa slightly dampened with lacquer thinner loosened the paint, and a light rubbing with dry balsa polished the letters up nicely. I did not attempt to clean the sides of the script this time, as it is quite shallow and I did not want to risk having to paint this hood a third time.
  3. Nice detail! I like the battery warmer on the General.
  4. Real nice! I love the wiring detail.
  5. Cool! I will be watching this one closely. I bought a partially assembled Revell version at a flea market that I have yet to start.
  6. I'm not really into exotics, but I must say that is one sexy looking automobile. Your workmanship so far looks perfect! I agree, that is a great color for it.
  7. I am going to call this one done. It's not a very well-fitting kit and I slapped it together for practice and as a test bed. It will likely end up donating parts eventually.
  8. Makes perfect sense. I will be trying this on my next bit of script! Now I just have to send away for those 7x readers I saw in the infomercial last night.
  9. Wow! That is dedication, the mans talents are phenomenal.
  10. Just curious, why do you prefer siphon? are there any advantages other than a larger paint reservoir?
  11. I thought they were marking their territory.
  12. Michael's doesn't have a great selection and they don't seem to be re-stocking sold out items, but I had a 55% off coupon that is only good for today so.... I'm not a big fan of this particular truck, but it is a 2 in 1 kit with a straight 6 engine. It is also a skill level 4 which means more parts! This one I may wind up customizing.
  13. I do believe I will try it also, I don't mind painting the trim, but script is difficult sometimes.
  14. Thank You all for the compliments, and thanks for all the tips and tricks I have learned here. This is my first paint job since discovering this forum, and my first airbrush job ever! I must say that the Aztec paint and clear goes on very nice, or at least I think it does in my limited experience. I wish it came in more colors. The only place I have found it is Michaels, and they are not replacing their stock sadly.
  15. No, it is Revell.
  16. I am calling this one done. The color is Testors Aztec Pearl Red, with Aztec Clear Gloss on top. I did not install the drivers side mirror, as it looked a little big and chunky.
  17. That is a VERY nice job!
  18. I have not yet wired an engine, but I found some very small diameter wire inside an old cell phone charging cord. For heater hoses, I got some 1/16" shrink tube from an electronics supplier. This slips nicely over radio solder or whatever wire you have and can then be bent without kinking.
  19. I can't figure out where this part is supposed to attach. I have googled images of '94 Corvette undercarriage, suspension, oil cooler/ brace and have found nothing that looks like this piece. Does AMT just make up parts? I am just going to discard it I guess, as it cannot attach to the two lower A-arms as they show.
  20. Very Nice! One of my all-time favorite cars.
  21. I am attempting to apply foil to the bumpers of a '67 Corvette that were in bad shape. I used some Tamiya epoxy putty to reshape a chunk that was missing, and "Perfect Plastic Putty" to fill the indentations on one half. The foil will not stick to the plastic putty at all. Can I just use any sort of clear coat to seal the putty, or is there something better that it will stick to?
  22. I was wondering if there was any silicone in silly putty, since silicone can cause big problems for paint jobs. Turns out it IS silicone and boric acid. Have you had any paint issues when using it? I googled using it as a mask, and it turns out hobbyists of all types use it with great success. I think I will give it a try, and just be careful not to get any where I don't want it and wash my hands frequently.

Wow! I have never seen a model that looked more like old steel! The design just goes to show that there really are no limits to this hobby! One can truly never get bored if you have an imagination.
  24. Nice job! I've never seen one of those before. I don't think the wheels look that bad. Some black center caps might help them.
  25. It does look like a nice kit, which is why I would like to give it a paint job.
