Kool cars -I am envious

Yup we had our fair share of these models in New Zealand where they were assembled from CKD (completely knocked down) kits. We had quite severe import restrictions at the time - after WWII until these were lifted in the 80's so there was up to 25-40% local product used in the locally assembled vehicles. We used to refer to them as "Pom Bombs" as the reliability was not up to that of the (few) American or more common Ozzy vehicles that were available down here The hybrid remark was based on the electric motor under the back seat!!

Were Ford UK experimenting with Hybrid vehicles back in the sixties - would explain the flat floor pan and - hehe!!!! I remember Ford having an off white colour and every year was different - the car painters went crazy trying to match colours

Back onto this build Being away with work and the interruption of a 32 build has not helped progress. I was waiting for the clear coat to gas out as I used a Humbrol enamel clear coat over the Testors and we all know it takes a wee while to gas out. I had already rubbed out the clear coat all the way to 12000 grit and I have been able to polish it without the paint getting sticky. Next up is getting it all together

Looking good - that is a lot of work to convert the fastback to the notch back but you have got the main elements nailed I recently built the fastback and had a lot of issues with the slab chassis. Worst was centreing of the wheels in the wheel wells. I had to move the rear about 3mm to the rear and not quite as much for the front. I think it was mostly due to a pour body to frame fitment. I think the Fairlane GTA has a better chassis but I did not have one available at the time

Thanks Tim I know the look can be off putting if the grill shell height does not look good. The big boys don't always get it right as you say That is why we have to mock up so much when we "Hot Rod" or kits Cheers Bill-e-boy

I started this way back in 1997 when the Revell 32 3 window coupe was first released. I painted it white and was intending to do some graphics but then it got parked up. I dug it out a few years later and fitted an AMT parts pack 392 Hemi with the goal of a Salt Lakes street driven racer but other projects got in the way. I dug it out again late last year as a contribution to the 32's 90th anniversary. I changed the motor to a Revell 392 Hemi as some of the fitment issues would be overcome and I could speed up construction a bit. Well the usual work and life got in the way so here we are six months into 2023 The following is a short list of modifications I carried out 3" top chop Front end lowered Rear end lowered Full chassis channel job Racing interior 392 Hemi from 5W coupe The build can be seen here - Cheers Bill-e-boy

I fixed the slightly to high grill surround and got it glued in. Funny stance while epoxy set up Got all the little to do's done like the: - front shocks - had to shorten them after the front end lowering - radiator hoses - headlights - final clean up This is how it looks now Its off to Under Glass time Thanks for looking

Its been an age since I last posted on this build - I spent 3 months working away from home and had a busy month leading into that - November, December and January taken care of only to go full blast into the next project of working long hours and next minute its May 2023. I did not make the 100th aniversary deadline - darn!! Well back into it Interior gat taken care of - some original build and some new stuff. The gauge panel is from the spares box along with the seat The original white paint job was not doing it so in the tank it went. Had to clean up the body a bit from the chop job it into primer and colour before I went away for work And a shot of the chassis and bits getting ready for assembly And chassis on all four A quick mock up which showed issues with the fire wall - the recess was not big enough for the monster motor so had to do a work round by installing a flat panel behind the fire wall lip to mate up with the interior. Gosh this is a big motor to fit in a fairly small hole but this is what hot rodding is all about So we are now up to date. Motor is now fitted. The steering and exhausts are in as well after a wee fight with the engine but we got there in the end. And the body is now mounted to the chassis Looking OK except the grill surround and radiator sits a bit too high when I mocked it up. I have shaved some more off the bottom where it sits on the cross member and have had to relieve some depth of the fan to get it to look good. I am using a chopped grill and radiator from R&MM but even the chop was not enough for the full chassis depth channel job. This has a nice PE grill insert to boot. Thanks for looking

This is my "Sunday" car. Originally from LA but bought from Texas before coming to NZ Photo taken in late 2016 just before I partly pulled it apart to install a XJ6 Jag front end into it. It now has American TT2 wheel with narrow white walls and a bit lower in the front

Looking kool Bill, like Dennis said "We do what we gotta do!" One day I hope I can kitbash something that will fall together without lots of work to make it work and look good - I am still waiting for the day

Look forward to following the build as I built up a banger with Cragar OHV conversion as aside project to my Boyd Tribute build. Just not sure what to use it in yet and it is allways good to see the use of a different motor. The chop looks good too - not too much as you say

Had one back in 2009. Have had some side issues but the benefits outweigh the other outcome if I had not had it done. I was offered three options - radiation and chemo, rods or a prostatectomy. The radiation doc said why see me just get it done. This was back in the day before keyhole surgery was common place so I have been left with a decent size scar but the PSA count has been zero since, but so has the sex life - damn - that has been the biggest down side but at least I am a cancer survivor
