Looks awesome, Carl. Nice build.

Well, the engine assembly just doesn't want to come apart. After a couple of hours in the freezer, I only got the alternator off. I'll still keep working with it and try to get it carefully disassembled. The gas cap was cut a little too much off the sprue, so I re-chromed the sides with Molotow Chrome Pen. And, the rims are ready to be detailed.

Started fixing the sink marks behind the headlight and filler spots on the front and rear pans. Got it sanded and washed, now to even it out with some more filler. I also got the last part off of the chassis, so now it's just the pan, no parts on it. Next step is to disassemble the engine and figure out what needs redone.

Looks great so far. I agree - the chassis does look very kart-ish. Keep up the good work.

I had an idea for the decals. What if I hang the decal sheet in a window for a bit, coat them with Micro Liquid Decal Film, and then still cut as close as I can to the decals before applying them. Would this method work?

No worries at all. You are completely fine. I actually appreciate the information. One thing I really don't want to do, as you said, is put together a great build and have the decals either ruin it, or break before I can apply them. Thank you very much for the heads-up and info.

Oooo a Mustang kit, and a race car kit, all in one (see my signature for more details ?). I’m gonna have to get my hands on one. Or, ya know, a few...

Thanks, David. Good catch. Yeah, the headlight area and front and rear pans still need some work yet. After that, the body should be ready for another coat of primer and paint prep.

I'm back on this build now that I got the Mach 1 done. This Mustang has been a WIP for over 25 years now. Here's what I got so far. The body is primed and the panel lines were darkened. The chassis, interior, and dash assembly are also in primer. Lots of loose parts are in plastic bags, same with the glass and tires. The engine isn't too bad, but could use some touch-ups. And the decals are a little discolored, but still decent. The lever on the steering column broke off a while ago - that's what's in the plastic "vial" on the left. Next step is to figure out what needs redone and what is fine as-is.

I agree. Thought I had it...not so easy as it looks.

That would look awesome! I think that’d look great beside the BRE Datsun.

Well, here it is. I finally got it done. I used the Revell Hot Rod Mach 1 kit for the base, and used the hood, front fascia assembly, and wheels from the Revell Boss 302 kit. Paint is Testors Arctic Blue Metallic over gray primer. I had to cut a hole in the 302 hood for the CJ Shaker scoop. Apparently, I didn't cut it big enough, which is why the hood won't sit flush. Aside from that, it built up pretty nicely. Overall, I’m pretty satisfied with how it turned out. It’s not perfect, but it’s certainly not my worst work. Partial build thread here.

Outstanding work on this build, Toriano. It looks great in that paint job. Keep up the good work.

That would be cool. Just a little inspiration idea. This is one of the Alan Fraser Racing Team Tigers that ran back in ‘65 and ‘66.

Nice work, William. Looks great.

Beautiful build, Ludwig. The Grabber Blue looks great with the white interior.

Excellent progress, Lorne. I think it’d look really good in Hot Magenta. -
Looks like it’s coming along nicely. Keep up the good work.

This is gonna be a tough little road rocket. Looks great so far - keep up the good work. If I may ask, what color is the body going to be?

I really like that body color, Carl. Will be following this build. -
Very interesting build, Randy. It’s neat to see a model kit of a new car like this. Can’t wait to see it Under Glass.

That is a really cool build, Wayne. Can’t wait to see it finished.
