B-17 Crash and fire at Conn. airport today...
Hotrod 97 replied to Ace-Garageguy's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
That is terrible news. A vintage warbird and precious lives, gone from this world. My prayers go out to all who were injured, and the families of those involved. -
Got the engine and interior done. I'll put the air filter on closer to final assembly. Next step: start painting the body.

I have a few other hobbies. I play acoustic guitar, and dabble in songwriting; I enjoy building larger size legos, such as the Mack Anthem and Bugatti Chiron; and I like to fly RC helicopters (when the weather permits). Oh yeah, and I also drag race in my ‘97 F150 ?

Thanks, Guido! Interestingly, I have a Revell ‘69 Shelby that I’m going to restore after I get this one Under Glass. As Charlie said, the Mach 1 and Shelby kits are pretty similar minus the body.

Gauging interest - 50 Years of Mach 1 CBP
Hotrod 97 replied to Hotrod 97's topic in Community Builds
Looking great so far, Rex! I was hoping someone would build the 007 Mach 1. Can’t wait to see it finished! -
Nice build, Rex! Looks great! Very unique and cool build for the Mach 1 CBP.

Super Clean Okay for a Diecast?
Hotrod 97 replied to Snake45's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I haven’t used Super Clean, but I have used something called Aircraft Remover. I used to use that stuff to remove paint from small scale diecast cars, so it should work for a larger scale, too. I will say, Aircraft Remover has some powerful fumes, so it should be used outside or in a well-ventilated room. -
2003 Jeep Treo. Pretty interesting concept (literally). It was designed to run off a hydrogen fuel cell.

Got my Grandmother's '02 Ranger up and running again. One of the drivers side spring shackles rusted off and the shocks needed replaced.

Spiders. Definitely spiders. Yesterday I "permanently relocated" 3 spiders, each about the size of a 50 cent piece, from around my workbench...they might have been carrying small parts off ?Hopefully I don't encounter any more...

Good Day Guys, new to the forum
Hotrod 97 replied to VanSpence's topic in Welcome! Introduce Yourself
Welcome aboard, Spence! -
Got almost all the parts in primer, the engine parts (minus the belts and pulleys) painted, the transmission painted, and I started assembly on the interior.
-
Got this today. Some more patterned craft paper to line the bottom of display cases, some more primer, a brass touch-up paint, and a 1/32 Scale 1960 Thunderbird.

What Cars Do You Like Every Year Of?
Hotrod 97 replied to JollySipper's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
For me, it’s the Ford Ranchero and Plymouth Barracuda. The ‘65 Ranchero and ‘69 Barracuda are my favorite years/body styles. -
Got the interior coated with Pledge, the engine painted, dash coated with Pledge, and got the rest of the parts de-sprued and sanded. All the interior needs is the steering wheel and shifter, and then it'll be done.

Welcome, Tim!

Gauging interest - 50 Years of Mach 1 CBP
Hotrod 97 replied to Hotrod 97's topic in Community Builds
I'm officially going to extend this CBP build window to December 31, 2019. That way no one has to rush to get the builds done in time. -
Gauging interest - 50 Years of Mach 1 CBP
Hotrod 97 replied to Hotrod 97's topic in Community Builds
Here's what I got so far. The dash needs decals yet, and the interior is only half detailed (the other door panel isn't detailed yet). I coated the seats with Pledge Revive It to give them more of a "leather" look. I had the engine painted but wasn't quite satisfied with how it turned out, so I stripped the paint off and re-primed it. I plan to get the body and the rest of the engine parts in primer tomorrow. -
Got half of the interior detailed, started detailing the chassis, got the dash painted, and got some more parts sanded and ready for primer.
