    I haven't tried this before, but the first thing that came to mind would be to apply used "dryer sheets" with thinned white glue or Future clear finish.

    If you're not picky about number of doors or model designations and trim a '55 Plymouth could be made from a '56 Jo-Han/X-El promo re-issue by grinding off the fins and making new taillights and a grille center, since everything else is basically the same. You could source those parts from a beat up '55 promo.

    For those of you left in suspense, the blue slot car in Howard's post is an MPC Dyno SC100, exclusively made for Sears stores by MPC. Lindberg made a lookalike 1/12 scale model kit originally released as the "GT-200", and other names over the years.

    The MPC Shirley Muldowney "Bounty Huntress" Roadrunner funny car kit had this body with the flat hood, if you care to cut one up. Hart's Parts Resin also makes the hood separately.

    Miatatom, if your model is in 1/24 scale you can find white roundels and numbers 3 and 6 in the correct font on a Gofer Racing Decals #11009 sheet "Sports Car Numbers", available from various sources and many hobby shops.
