Thanks again, guys, for kind words are much appreciated! Yes I did. Though the vinyl top was nicely detailed in this kit it just interfered with the clean look I was after, so off it went along all the other chrome trim.

The 2022 Cannonball Run Year of Birth Build Thread
Koellefornia Kid replied to disconovaman's topic in Community Builds
#20 1978 Dodge Now that my ´68 El Camino is finally under glass, I can dedicate my bench time to my birth year ball contender: a ´78 Dodge Monaco. Here’s the kit: Bought it about a decade ago and wanted to build it as a crazy showcar/lowrider themed custom… ….and imagined tube grilles, maybe remove the center part of the roof Landau-style and open the doors with the rear ones suicide, wild paint job, blablabla… Well maybe I´ll buy another issue and build that at some time in the future. Now, it’s destined to be a coast-to-coast racer with the body left (mostly) stock but with a Viper V-10 power plant and interior parts. And it definitely shall look fast (no sleeper here)! I have a lot of ideas but we will see where things are going… First of all I deal with my favourite part when starting a new project: Choosing the right kind of rolling stock! I have three parts boxes full of wheels, so let’s test some. With a Dodge body,Dodge engine and maybe a Dodge chassis, at first I thought I´ll keep the Dodge theme and use some Dodge wheels Viper wheels? No. Sidewinder? Better, but no! Copperhead 5-spokes? Kinda cool but Im not sure about big´n´littles. Let’s try something else. Hella´s - dismissed. Hoppin Hydros - Nope. Schott Velocities? Destined for another build, so no. Pegasus Vantage - too elegant. Black Force smoothies - too old school. Pegasus Lightning - little too crazy. How about some more racing style rims: Centerliners - no. Z´s Wheels Bandits or Salt IIs? Hmmm, I´m getting closer… 23“ ChromeTs, Phat Daddies, Foose Nitrous II? They all look great but 3 of my last 4 builds had 5-spokes. Decisions, decisions… I think I will use these: These came from a Tamiya DTM Mercedes C-class kit set in 23“ inch aluminium sleeves and low profile tires. They nicely fill the wheel wells, are of racing origin and have that sinister, yet elegant look I’m after. And they remember the Daimler-Chrysler fusion from some years ago, so I think that fits. What do you think? p.s.: Sorry for the flood of pics... -
Hi, guys, here's my first build of 2022. Amt´s ´68 El Camino (street machine kit) which i call the "El Cleano" I removed all handles, badges and trim from the body to give it a smooth and clean look. The stock taillights were also deleted in favour of a set of ´97 Corvette lenses inserted into the tail gate. Added some fuzzy dices to the rear view mirror, otherwise the interior and engine is box stock. Lowered he suspension and added a set of aftermarket 5-spoke wheels. Paint is a custom mixed blue metallic sprayed over VW Reflex Silver. Hope you like it, comments welcome! Thanks for looking
