Thank you, Larry, I enjoy a good challenge and this certainly fit the bill. Thanks Ray, but I think you will enjoy my next project even more. Thank you Brice. Thank you. That's the ultimate compliment...thankyou. Thank you, Gary Always appreciate the compliment and incentive. -
Very nice Helmut, I have built one of these so I can appreciate the effort that goes into a project like this. It looks good in yellow too.

I have this kit built but it is not near as good as yours. Very nice job an a tough kit. How did you solve the fit between the front of the doors and the front cover. ? -
Just completed this Fujimi 1/20 Formula One car. It is the Sauber C30 from the 2011 season. Car was driven by Kamui Kobayashi (16) and Sergio Perez (17). It used a Ferrari engine and thier KERS system. Colors are Tamiya TS-26 whit e and TS14 bolack. Gunze #85 red was used for the front wing and to match the stripe. Kit is mostly stock with the exception of some seatbelt decals out of the scrapbox. See the captions for extra info and thanks for looking. Black was airbrushed and was a real challenge to get it positioned correctly and come to a sharp point. Some adjustments had to be made to accomodate the rear wing but once done it fit nice and snug. Front wing was the hardest part. It was 15 separate pieces and twice as many decals. Don't usually take a picture from this angle but I think it shows off the lines of the car quite well.

Thank you Kurt...really appreciate the compliment. Back in 1971 that was some of my best work and always one of my favorite models. I was greatly saddened when it deteriorated and was relegated to the back of the case. Restoring it was a priority. Thank you, as always, Gary -

Thank you for the compliment Helmut. That was one of the reasons I had to order the wheels too as the stock ones couldn't be modified easily enough to fit the new tires. -

Thanks Bruce, the model is 1/12 scale....... -
I built this kit around 1971 when it first came out. This was one of my favorite pieces but time and age took its toll. Eventually the tires just caved in. I replaced the fronts with some extra's that I had in a Heller kit but it still didn't look right. There were other issues as well. Bear in mind this was the early 70's and a lot of the materials we have today didn't exist and my experience level was in its infancy. A big thank you has to go to Icon Automotive Miniatures who produce an accurate replacement set of tires for this car. Once the tires arrived the incentive was there. Was never happy with the driver figure and a few other details so it all got fixed. The rest of the details are under the pictures. Thanks for looking and feel free to comment. Completed project. I also bought the correct wheels. Getting the gold color right was a big deal. Campagnolo made the wheels for Ferrari and it was an exotic blend of metals that was both very light and strong. They were not painted gold but this is this actual color of the metal. Rear veiw and some of the age shows here. Clay Reggazoni got a nice face lift and new helmet which was painted very badly back then and not in the correct livery. Seats belts are Scale Motorsport and replaced the rubber cast thingies that came in the kit. Cowling was removed to show detail. I didn't know how to make these screen covers back in 1971. But I do now.

Ya never know......I might be ready for a good challenge. -
I have built this kit and just for your info, I airbrushed all the graphics. Covering large areas with decal is tricky and often they wrinkle and this shows badly. Also since this kit is fairly old now you might want to test your decals so they don't crack. Use a small one you know you can replace. If they are going to crack then you will need to coat them with clear. Hope this helps you and good luck with the build . They really are very nice kits.

Thanks Andy, I am way past Covid now, fully recovered.......but....the Porsche case is pretty full....so I am thinking something red and maybe F-1. -
Ray...I will never get tired of seeing Cobra's...especially yours. And I totally agree with you on the Fujimi kit. I have built two of them and was pleased with the result.

Looking to complete another and found this one in the stash already painted. Paint is Boyd' s Aluma Pearl yellow with Testors Crystal clear topcoat. Kit was very nice except for the decals. Mine cracked badly when I went to do the seats. A little varnish solved the problem for the rest of the decals. Never had this problem with Tamiya. Rest of the kit went together without much fuss. Tamiya went all out on the detail. See photo captions for extra info. Thanks for looking. Interior had loads of detail. I added black flock for carpet, Interior was painted a silver/grey to match the outside stripe. Seat fabric was sprayed flat. Those decals went on in many pieces. Don't usually photo the under carriage but this had so much detail it would have been a shame not to. I used various shades of Testors metallizer. I lied the stance of this model right out of the box. Rear end had lots of detail too. Chrome insert behind the tailights was a nice touch. Licence plate came out of the spares. Didn't like Tamiya's offering. Wheels were satin chrome and I sprayed them Tamiya X-18 semi black. I over thin the paint and spray it at high pressure in very thin coats. Gradually lower the pressure til I get to the wet coat. That pulls away from the edges slightly giving it the color and allowing some of the chrome to peek through. Dry brushing with silver would do the same thing but you wouldn't get the color and it wouldn't be as subtle Headlight also had the same chrome insert but had to be painted black. This is the length Tamiya went to for detail. This is 3 pieces. A clear insert glued in from behind and painted Tamiya smoke, and 2 of those rub on chrome emblems. Sorry about the hair....the camera picks up everything at high zoom.
