  1. This is the 1979 Lemans entry by Kremer Porsche that scored an amazing victory over the sports prototypes. Kit is by Platz NuNu and it built most box stock except for the aftermarket photo etch kit offered by the manufacturer. Kit was a joy to built with few fit problems. Decals were exceptional and responded well to solvent. I did not have this winner in my collection and was pleased when it was available. See under photos for additional information on this build. Thanks for looking. Interior was well done but a little sparse. Seatbelt material required some extra finesse and was a little thicker than I am used to. It looked good when done. Unfortunatly most of this is hideden when the body is on. Overall I am pleased with how the car turned out. There was lots of fiddly body detail that soaked up two days of work. Businss end of the car. The twin turbos were replicated nicelyThe wheels and tires were a very tight fit. Some of the body had to be ground away for them to steer. But it sits right. Lots of phot etch parts here, dzus buttons, inlet screen, wing endplate, spoiler, window bracing and antenna. The wing vent was painted like this on the real car....or is it engine grime. Those vents were a lot of fun to open up and took a few hours and some custom cut sandpaper to even them out. Getting the decals to lay down in them was actually the easy part.
  2. Tim....the interior looks great with all the detailing you have done. Those seatbelts look spot on. Can't wait to see the whole thing finished.
  3. Looks good Mark, very creative. I got a full preview of this from another source the other day.
  4. From unloved to loved....you did a great job bring an old model back to life.
  5. Very nice rendition of this kit. Luv the CF
  6. I have had this table size for over 40yrs and it has been in two locations. the layout has been changed many times. 1rst was a mobile home with all the walls torn down and the second and present location is the building my business is in. Its in the cellar. I bought this business and building specifically because there was room for this. Wouldn't have taken the chance on a business otherwise. That was 28yrs ago.
  7. Nice model. Martini is my favorite livery and I have a whole collection of them including this one. Your work is top notch but it would be nice if you told us a little more about how you did it.
  8. TS36 is an amazing finish and it dries to such a hi shine. You should see what it looks like over red plastic.
  9. You're welcome Gary. This was a lot of fun. When Scott comes to visit we spend a lot of time going through all these kits. Its just another way we modelers connect.
  10. This topic caught my eye. I was recently (like a yr and half ago) asked to take pics of my stash so here they are. Believe it or not some of these (not many) have been built since these pictures were taken. Many of them are painted though. This is an accumulation of over 50+ years. The Tamiya street and racer car section 1/20 Formula 1's, sorry about the fuzzy pic. many of these are started. 1/24 Formula 1 kits...yah ...I like F-1 1/12 Formula 1, mostly Protar Ferrari's...they are touogh to build so I don't so em often. More large scale kits...the Mercedes 300SL was recently featured, working on the 1/16 Corvette now. More 1/12 kits, I have over 50 to do, plus some oddballs that don't fit anywhere else. Aaahh the Fujimi collection and other Japanese large scale kits. Most of this stuff is started and or painted. My resin collection, I have since added many to this section so I gotta get busy. Some trans-kits here too. My domestic kit section, I grab one of these when i want a real challenge or something to paint. Most have been painted so i am kinda running out. There are two display cases that hinge away from this storage section. You can just see the backs on the left side.
  11. Very nice builds, that's a lot of decal work.
  12. Nice build, these are tough kits to get right and you pulled it off.
  13. Nice job, these are wonderful kits, was looking at mine just yesterday.
  14. Very nice build Mark, did you use Tamiya TS36 flourescent red.
  15. As always Gary, thanks for the compliment. I have had this kit in the stash for probably 25+yrs and always thought of doing this type of paint on it. Wanted to replicate the markings on the Scarab bug. Then I got some of the Splash Chameleon paints and just had to try it. It was fun and I am pleased with the result.
  16. A decent job Mitch. Yah...the camera never lies. Can't tell you how many times I have touched up a model and re-shot the pictures.
  17. An unusual kit of an unusual car. The Scarabeo was produced in 1966 by Alfa Romeo. It used part of the Tipo 33 chassis and the engine was a 4cycl Alfa from the GTA model. It was mounted transversely in the rear. This was supposed to be an affordable two seat mid engine sports car but productions problems and other interests in the racing program prevented it from coming to production. Only two were built and a third prototype started but never completed. The kit is a fairly rare issue by Bandai and features working suspension front and rear, opening bonnet, engine cover and interior enclosure. Paint is Tamiya TS14 gloss black with 2K clear. The Scarab motif was made from an image sourced off the web and transferred onto a completely masked body. It was then carefully cut out and then sprayed with Splash paints Chameleon colors in both green and red. It was done to represent the irridescent colors of the Scarabs body. See below photos fro additionally information. This was a fun kit but not with out its problems as it was an early production kit. Here is the completed bodywork basking in the sun to cure. This is the best shot to show the graphics. Rather simple interior. Fitting the back into the center section required pinning it into place (not the gold pins) This forced it into position and caused problems later on. The center section had to be glued in place prior to painting and everything fit nicely at that time. The interior opening operates nice and smoothly now and fits surprisingly well after a few adjustments. Side view, I added several coats of smoke to the spokes of the wheels to calm down the chrome. Windshield wiper seems small but I suppose it would do the job. It it covered the entire winshield it would have obstructed the veiw. It does not appear on photos of the real car but I think it needed it. Rear veiw give you a good idea of the profile of the car. Note the unusual taillight arrangement. Top veiw of the car showing the compled model and its unusual graphics.
  18. Looks good from here. Never seen this kit before.
  19. Kurt...I normally keep a pretty clean and organized workbench but on occassion it needs a good de-cluttering. When its all nice and clean I just like to sit there for awhile and admire all the clean workspace and tools all in their places. However....it doesn't take very long for a project to land on the workbench. To me, an organized and clean workspace is just a big invitation to work on something. Just the thing to get you out of a slump. Most of those parts come from either a Playstation or DVD player. Am i right?
  20. We could probably commiserate for hours on the problems we had. On mine if you stood on the gas hard in low gear you could get the clutch to slip. Under normal driving conditions it was OK but i knew it would go sooner or later. The people who bought mine took it on a trip and the clutch let go many miles from home. If you know about these cars then you know the engine and radiator have to come out to get at the clutch. Kinda makes you feel sorry for those people.
  21. Nice job on that one Mark. 1/43 is not the easiest scale to work in and you pulled this one off beautifully.
  22. Its cool to build a car you actually owned. One way of getting to own it again. I have a model of my 1988 944 using the same kit. I liked the car but the repairs were getting scary.
  23. Nice conversion, detailng is spot on.
  24. Turned out sweet Dave, that was a lot of conversion work but it paid off with a decent model.
