  1. If you cut the molding loose carefully, you can simply glue it back on and fill the corners. It gives the molding better definition. Also easier than scribing a new line.
  2. Thanx Carl! I'm hoping so! Thanx Francis! I don't do model shows anymore. There are none close to me that I'm aware of.
  3. No. They work differently. The Ford hood pivots and tucks behind the header panel. The Edsel hood works kinda like a rear mounted hinge would. I could've made a set like I did on this model. But, it's too late now and I'm fine with leaving it loose.
  4. No. The roof only needs .020. The windshield opening needs to be raised the width of the molding (+ - 2mms). Thanx!
  5. I look forward to seeing this one built! I have a '62 that I want to give the same treatment to. Are those hubcaps from the '61 Starliner?
  6. I think it looks OK.
  7. No, it wouldn't have looked right with a silver roof.
  8. They don't. They're just for gluing the hood open.
  9. Thanx guys! I got the last two coats of clear on the body. Just gotta sand, polish and foil. I now have the interior finished!
  10. The Revell '65 Chevy will have what you need.
  11. A van suspension won't work under a pickup. The driver's side A arms are longer. Passenger side, shorter due to the offset engine.
  12. I'll have to check to make sure. But, I think the lift on the '84 GMC is a simple block setup on each end of the springs. You would just need to cut the raising blocks off to get it back to stock.
  13. I've always said I'll take a curbside kit with nice proportions and no engine over a full detail kit with wrecked proportions any day. Revell's LX is a perfect example. The engine didn't help the body at all. The engine in the MPC Mustang doesn't make up for chrome headlights and molded in taillights. It just doesn't. But, everyone has their own preferences and are entitled to them.
  14. The whole roof needs .020 added to it.
  15. I haven't done a tutorial. But, I came up with an easy fix when I built my '75. What I did was simply cut above the molding strip with a scriber until the molding strip was loose. I then made small cuts at the corners to free it from the body. I placed it back on the body in the new position and glued it back on. I had to add some styrene to the corners to finish it out. When this is done, the entire roof needs an additional .020 added to it. If not, the roof will look too thin.
  16. The problem with the bumper fit on these kits isn't so much the bumper as it is the fender. The fender where it meets the bumper is flat where the bumper is rounded. When I built my Falcon, I made some cuts to the backside of the fender, gave it the same curve as the bumper and then filled the cuts back in with superglue. IIRC, I also trimmed a little off of the bottom of the fender, thinned the bumper down on the ends and notched the bumper where it meets the leading edge of the fender. It makes a big difference in how the grille and bumper fits.
  17. Very true. There isn't a single model in my display cases that have the hood open. I also have several models with no engine. They look the same on the shelf as those with an engine. The Tamiya GT+4 will be my first Tamiya kit purchase. I don't think they'll have any issues selling the GT+4 at all.
  18. It comes from China. So, I'm not buying it.
  19. TBH, Moebius has made me wish they would give up trying to produce Ford pickups. They can't get the proportions, grilles or details right. To me, they look like a dollar store diecast.
  20. Nice looking '40 Phil! I may have to try your idea sometime.
  21. Very cool little model Ray! It looks so much better without the roof!
  22. My wife is a cosmetologist. So, I can get a bottle on the cheap to try out. It looks a lot like another product that people use on full scale stuff.
  23. Your question made me curious as there's two recesses on the underside of the hood and it got me to wondering what went there. So, I grabbed the instructions for the first time and checked it out. There are hinges that glue to the underside of the hood. Whether they're operational or not? Don't know. But, I am going to see if they are or can be made to operate. Looking at the instructions, it looks like they work. Must be where the phrase, "If all else fails, check the instructions!" came from.
  24. First mockup in paint! This is the third coat of paint, first coat of clear. I'm loving how this this thing is looking!
  25. No, I'm going to just leave it loose.
