I guess no one has considered that it's quite possible that Round2 has plans to issue this kit later as factory stock? I don't think any kit company would do the tooling for a one and done. It could be why it came with the bias ply tires. If all it needs is a stock bench seat and wheel covers to make it stock, they would be silly not to.

1960 Chevrolet Fleetside
Plowboy replied to landman's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
Don't know. I always paint the darker color first. If you happen to get bleed through on the dark color, it's easier to fix. If you get the dark color on the light color, much tougher to fix. -
Thanx guys, I appreciate the comments! To me, models built from the parts box can be the most fun to be had. If it goes south, no big deal. It's like building a model with free parts.

VW Double Cab long bed custom
Plowboy replied to Finks Garage's topic in Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
So cool! Love the weathering and the different colored doors! -
Thanx! Yeah, I sprayed the Mica Red over Mica Silver. I've also shot it over Gold which makes it a little darker. Someday, I want to shoot it over a dark color like Gunmetal or Black.

Thanx to everyone for all of the great comments! I appreciate them! This is a pretty nice little kit out of the box. Some kit bashing to suit one's taste can make it even better.

That's a really nice looking mild custom Tom! It's not easy to take an ugly car and turn it into something cool. But, you pulled it off! The color, wheels and tires suits it perfect!

Finally wrapped this one up today. It's a kitbash with the Revell '57 Del Rio, an AMT '58 Edsel and Phantom Vickie. The Del Rio supplied the chassis, floor pan, cargo area, roof and glass. The Edsel provided the lower body, seats, door panels and dash. The Phantom Vickie provided the engine, transmission, wheels, tires and rearend. Paint is Tamiya Mica Silver and Mica Red on the body. Interior is Tamiya Dull Red and Primer Gray. Thanx for checking it out!

Sharp as A TACK!! I really like the understated colors on it. The Hopsters suit it perfect! Nice work!

Paint test today-Testors Dark cherry pearl
Plowboy replied to gotnitro?'s topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Dark Cherry Pearl was a Model Masters color. I have an older project painted with it. Could it be that Testors is just going to relabel the MM paints? I would like to see some of those colors come back. Jeff, would you mind posting a photo of the paint can please? -
Thanx to everyone who commented on this project! I appreciate it! I should be able to get it finished tonight barring any issues. It's pretty much done. Just a few final details left. I love how it looks with all of the chrome pieces on it!

Out of curiosity, I checked ebay and found a few. Prices are rediculous! I know it's just came out. But, $54 shipped is never gonna happen! That was the cheapest. One was $75!

Group 29 - the thread for everyone's '29 Ford Roadster builds
Plowboy replied to Phildaupho's topic in Model Cars
Here's two that I've built. First one is from the box with only a slight lowering to the front. The second was built with leftovers from the Revell kit and a '41 Woody along with various other parts. -

The things that caught my eye in the video were the full scale '69 Impala and the mid '70s Camaro. Now those would be some welcome new tools!

This model was built with the leftover channelled frame, exhaust and interior from the Revell kit. The body is from the old AMT kit. The grille is from a Phantom Vickie. The AMT '41 Woody provided the engine with the intake and carbs from a Revell '48 Convertible, front axle, Halibrand rearend, backing plates and tail lights (actually front turn signals). The front wheels are from an AMT '49 Mercury. The deeper rear wheels are from an AMT '34 Sedan. Tires are Parts Packs. Paint is Testors One Coat Emerald Green and White Lightning. This was a pretty fun build. Despite all of the different parts used, it went together like they were made for each other. Everything used was leftover parts. Thanx for checking it out!

That's some nice looking paintwork Jim! Never would've thought about painting in that manner. But, it clearly works very well!

Help correcting minor body warping
Plowboy replied to dawgvet's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
If it's only an eighth off, you should be able to twist it back without heat. If you do need heat, use a hair dryer. -
I built this back when it first came out. Think it was 2015? Since it was my first go around with it, I kept it simple and didn't add any details. Plus, I didn't have much experience with building hot rods this small. The only modification from the box was shaving a little off the front spring to lower it a touch. Paint is Tamiya Maroon and Model Masters Wimbledon White. Thanx for checking it out!

Very well done Edsel! I like the color combo and how cleanly it's built! Nice work!

Thanx Alan! The green '29 has the QC from an AMT '41 Woody along with several other parts.

Sharp as a tack! Carl, I think you can paint with anything! Never seen a Testors red enamel look that nice!
