  1. Fords are called Stylesides. I've been wanting to build an '83 myself as I owned one. My plan is to use the Monogram F-250,150 and Bronco. They're all1/24 scale.
  2. I say build it and make it what you want. I've done a few rare ones and haven't regretted it at all. Would you rather see it built into something you love to look at or see it laying in pieces in a box? Here's some that I've done just what you're talking about.
  3. My immediate thought also. But, then I thought it will make a good kitbash with the lousy Revell LX coupe. Like an LX hatchback.
  4. That's a sharp looking '29! I much prefer the closed cab over the roadster. To me, an open cab on a pickup just doesn't compute. I really like the color you painted it. What is the name and brand?
  5. That's a cool looking little Jeep!
  6. Exceptionally nice looking custom 300! The paint, wheels and stance are right on the money! What is the source of the wheels?
  7. For your convertible top, you could use the top from a Revell '55 Chevy and modify it. They look pretty similar on the full scale versions.
  8. Very nicely done Bill! Like Rob mentioned, this is one of a few that looks the part. I didn't know the movie car had a blown Ford engine. I guess that's the reason for the hood scoop. Nice work!
  9. Thanx Gerald! I was told that the '59 bumper was the only one it came with until the '80s chopped version. It's my favorite part of the model!
  10. Thanx guys! I got the body in the first two coats of color! I'll sand and shoot one more coat of each. Then shoot the clear. I love how the color is looking! I also have the interior in color. It's just Tamiya Gray Primer and Dull Red. I think this combination will compliment the body very well. I'm going to sand the red areas to hopefully reveal the pattern that is there. If it doesn't work out, I can just spray another coat of paint over it.
  11. Would it be possible to cut the V from the optional Meteor grille and cut it into sections to make it?
  12. I have this kit. If I ever get around to building it, I'm going to move the engine to the stern. To me, the layout just doesn't make sense having the engine in the center.
  13. So, it's OK for you to post a link to your forum on Gregg's forum. But, it's not OK for Tom and I to briefly discuss another forum in your thread on Gregg's forum? Yeah, right. I haven't said a word about your etiquette. Your actions do that. I also haven't reported your thread or went to staff. So get your facts straight before you post about me. If people want to join your forum. That's fine. I don't care. Nothing to me if everyone here joined it. I sure won't be joining it.
  14. I scored this builtup up on ebay for cheap a while back. When it arrived, it was in better shape than I anticipated. Instead of blowing it apart and restoring it, I decided to see if I could clean it up and polish the paint. If it didn’t work out, I could still fall back on my original plan. I started with removing the chrome pieces and giving the body a light polish. The roof popped loose during that process. So, I was able to clean the glass and interior also. All of the chrome was redone with a Molotow pen. I finished it off with the chrome reverse wheels from an AMT '57 T-Bird and the tires are from the last issue of the '60 Ranchero. To me, it has that true survivor feel to it that can't be replicated. This is what it looked like when I got it. Thanx for checking it out!
  15. First squirts of paint! I also have the body in Mica Silver. The chassis will all be Mica Silver. I really like how the Mica Red looks over the Mica Silver! I can't wait to see the body in color!
  16. Why not use an AMC engine from one of the many available Jeep kits? Or do a turbo V-6 from a Grand National. The GN is 1/24. But, that could be an advantage in this case.
  17. Thanx Tom! It's cool to look at those old models that have survived for decades! Unfortunately, I don't belong to Facebook. Yet.
  18. If I'm not mistaken, all '60s and '70s Buick engines were visually the same size. It was the bore and stroke that made the cubic inches. A 350 will look the same as a 430 or 455. I don't know of a 1/25 Buick engine. But, the Revell/Monogram 1/24 '70 GSX has the nicest engine IMO.
  19. I'll have to check into that. Do you have a link to Dave's forum?
  20. That's a nice looking little Fairlane Bob! I really like the color! I also like how you did the hinges on the hood and posable wheels. I'm guessing you had to do some grinding work to get the interior tub to fit to the chassis? Nice work!
  21. The AMT Ford vans have a SBF with an automatic.
  22. The Revell '32 Fords have a SBF with an automatic. The trans pan has Metric in raised letters on it. Just have to sand those away.
  23. This is Tamiya Mica Silver straight from the can. No shine. This is the same color after three coats of clear and polished.
  24. Thanx! The answer to your question is simple. No water pump on the engine. That's why I said the engine would be useless in a driven car. About all it would be good for would be to move it from a trailer to a parking spot.
  25. Tamiya paints aren't going to dry with a shine. Almost all of them dry dull as they're a lacquer paint. Some of the solid colors will dry with a touch of shine. You can polish the solid colors. But, the metallics have to have a clear coat like TS-13. I clear over both. It kinda sounds like you tried to spray too much paint at once. Humidity isn't your problem at 67%. I've painted in my garage when it was raining with no problems. My method for painting is never more than two coats per day. I spray two coats of paint, allow it to dry a day. I'll sand and if I don't sand through, I'll spray two coats of clear. If I do sand through, I'll spray a coat of paint, allow it to dry a couple of hours and spray one coat of clear. Next day, sand again and spray one or two more coats of clear (depending on if I have one or two coats of clear over the paint). Next day, sand and polish. To fix what you have, allow it to dry a few days, sand with 1000 grit and spray a light coat of paint over it and see what happens. It would really help if you could post a photo. Otherwise, we're shooting in the dark.
