That's a slick model man... I'm usually not a fan of the Willys (kinda like radio ruined Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd etc..) they have been done to death!! But yours is very nice and different than most. The colors look excellent, and that wheel and tire package really set It off!

Thanks. It was a rather quick build... but that T took 3 tries with frisket film to get "right"... I free handed that with a razor blade. First 2 tries I didnt like it after I sprayed, so i had to wet sand it away and do it over... And please don't tell my wife its ugly lol!!

Thanks Dann... that means a ton coming from you, your builds are amazing. I'm still trying to hone my chops...but I'm learning fast.

I've noticed how important this is just recently... not only does it help with seeing issues, it helps with (for me anyway) keeping the overall build idea fresh in my mind. Same here... One I'd like to add is something I have done myself until I built the little 68 beetle (that I posted in the under glass section) it has a separate head liner panel... I had never thought of actually painting in or flocking a head liner... But once I realized it, I will now never have a "bare" headliner... unless the build calls for it... race car or such. -
Darn it... now I gotta stop by Walmart.... I try and avoid that place at all costs. But I'll do it for a kit. Cue the Klondike bar jingle and replace Klondike bar with "model kit" then pose the question.... "would you venture into walmart"... and then I reply "yes"

Anything New at Hobby Lobby?
LL3 Model Worx replied to Snake45's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
That is too hilarious! I honestly did buy nearly the entire line of Hawks "Weird-o's- from a guy once for less than he paid at a flea market, because he couldnt sell them online... I paid like 2 bucks per kit. Pretty hilarious. Still not sure why I bought them... never even built the first one. Then I bought up all of the "limited edition" Testors 1/35 Sturmtigers that came with display box and whatnot.... for 7 dollars a piece At Ollies a few years back. Still got a stockpile of those. -

The same can absolutely not be said for guitar players.... let me tell ya. But yea car guys have to stick together, otherwise none of us would have ever got the first 1:1 project on the road... Wether it's an odd part you need, a bit of tech advice, or even just a fresh set of eyes... most guys are willing to help. It's like boaters... all of them help one another ALWAYS because they know paddling a 30ft pontoon boat sucks! But that is a very good resource you have posted there! -

Isn't it amazing how glaring flaws only seem to show up when you take pictures! I have had this exact thing happen to me 2 times. It all looks great until the camera shows you where you boo booed. -

And in 1/25, said weiner would be just a shade under 13 inches long...oh brother....lol! Gonna require big rubber.... and I don't have any in the parts box lol. -

Yes it is a blast... I'm currently pushing my skills to the limit trying to fuse to two completely different cars together. May not be able to lol... And my grandma has actually gotten me a 4 door kit...lol! I'm glad you were able to fix this one without being terribly invasive, very nice. You and yours have a very merry Christmas as well. -

Hahaha! Or "the Weiner is bulged in all the wrong places... " All the puns/potential puns would run amok... After all, a bunch of guys are on a model car forum discussing the intricacies of their weiner. It would be both an awsome kit and hilarious! "That Weiner definitely contains filler" -

Repainting die cast car
LL3 Model Worx replied to JMeehan913's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Not sure if anyone has mentioned it, but look for a bodyshop in your area... if they are half decent I'm sure they would paint it for you for a small fee... I mean painting cars is what they do... and this one is much smaller. When we had the shop we painted all sorts of oddities for folks.... -

It just shocks me that something that unique that's been around that long hasn't been kitted... I'll have to make one. -

Understood... I was just looking for some "real time" interaction with the community... that I'm extremely new in. Looking up zombie threads is great for information/reference, but not so good for conversation. But I'm starting to believe I'm in the wrong place for conversation, wich sucks because I have no one else to discuss the hobby with otherwise. Oh well... back to work. -

Yea I get it, but I do not wanna be the guy to cause unnecessary trouble or "rock the boat"... That is certainly not why I joined this forum and exactly why I have never had any other (anti)"social media". Guess I'll choose my topics a bit more judiciously in the future. Too much negativity in the world already without unnecessarily creating the breeding ground for more. -
Thanks for looking. I can possibly make that happen. I'm not much of a photographer. Any suggest?

Well, let's hope it doesn't get locked... I didn't realize a thread like this existed when I created it. I obviously didn't mean to cause trouble, I just like to take a step back and have a laugh at the things I have both done and saw that bothered me and others. If nothing else this thread has given me a fair amount of insight into what NOT to do on a build if I ever plan to show it either here or at a show/contest. I however can see how I may have errored, not considering some folks may take the opportunity to take shots at other modelers... that's neither cool or mature at all. We all build to a standard, and that standard can vary greatly depending on the individuals ability and desire... I myself am mediocre car modeler at best as most of my experience is in figures/armor and general painting. But I am learning... quickly, especially after discovering this site and some of the excellent builders here. I apologize for not foreseeing the potential "cause/effect" of this subject, I just thought it would be fun and educational. -

LL3 Model Worx replied to Snake45's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Naturally... lol If it works out for them great, that is "good business" but I doubt the dividends are worth the effort. Guess I need to buddy up with the HL manager so I can get the inside scoop... I'm there so much they practically know me by name anyway. But I've only seen kits on sale 1 time. -

Wish I had been quicker with the cam... (phone is slow) but right through the light on a flat bed trailer is a (very nice) German Panzer IV tank!! Going down the street in my podunk town. Then I saw this... an E-Type Jag... bizarre stuff for these parts! Then this one... very sharp for a 4door. Then this guy rolled up and made my day!!! Wish there was a kit... gonna have to scratch build one someday! I see alot of wild stuff for such a small town... but then car scene here is HUGE! -
Sweet deal! I like that old kit alot. Wish I had another one.
