WOW, that's a real nicely detailed cockpit Joe, very convincing my friend! You who love the details, you get what you pay for, there are as many details on the back as on the front of the dashboard... Very different from car kits, isn't it?

You have a lot to be proud of Steve, I could repeat the same superlatives over and over again about this beautiful model! The combo of the 2 bodies works wonderfully and could have been produced, the "fit" is perfect! There are no weak points, it's great from all points of view, I totally love it!!! ?

I don't know how many hours you have invested in this project but the result is nothing short of spectacular! Your dedication to the subject and your hard work is proof that great things can be accomplished when you are passionate and this qualifier obviously applies to your character traits! I take my hat off to you sir! ? You mentioned to me in a reply on your WIP that you made the General Lee, did you make a thread of this on the forum? I would be interested to see it if this is the case.

Another superb creation from you Claude! Forced to admit that you are rewriting the theory that says "nothing is lost and nothing is created". In this wonderful world of scale models, you prove that "nothing is lost but everything can be created" when you have a vivid imagination! In addition, it produces a training phenomenon because the remains of a model become the start of another project. You may have invented perpetual motion my friend, in any case, you have all my admiration! By the way, the color is absolutely stunning and you give me some great ideas for my own project... ?

I have to admit that after making all these aluminum and brass parts on this and previous projects, I was up for a new challenge and the idea of making functional parts like the hood hinges was the perfect test as if I can put it that way. I am always up for a new challenge and the support I receive as well as the high quality work done all over this forum motivates me to always try to do better! Francis

It doesn't take away from the quality of your build Andrew and a job of this caliber can't be done in a matter of weeks. I myself am at the end of my third year working on my '64 D100 pickup and I have not yet gotten to painting so I am in a good position to understand! You have done work of exceptional quality sir and it will serve as a reference for those who will have the courage to invest in this kind of long-term project... ?

I have exactly the same philosophy Daniel! Nothing is more rewarding than making your own parts, but I have to admit that not everyone has all the tools or equipment available, so our good hobby shops are here to remedy the situation! ? Francis

My goal is to always try to improve myself from the previous effort and with a lot of modesty I think that I could still do even better on the next ones but I don't think of making another D100 anytime soon... On the other hand, the technique and the experience will serve me well in the future! Francis

I am more than happy to share all my tips Trevor! Ironically I bought these guitar strings just for the center wire which is the right size to make brake lines and used to get rid of the wrapped part but now I know the whole thing Is usefull.

I'm glad to see that the Dana rear end is now in the process of being made and I expect nothing less than another little gem! In any case, you seem well prepared!!! ?

Hello everyone, Thanks again to each of you for the kind comments on my last post about hood hinges, I really appreciate it! I just realized that I forgot to show you a photo of the real part and one with the hinge closed under the hood while I am still able, I will need a little elf to do it when the big HEMI is in the engine bay... ? Thanks for the very kind words Trevor, I'm happy you love them! The springs are guitar strings (the larger one on the set if I remember well). I tried custom made some using tiny wires but they didn't have recall because they weren't tempered so I thought of these guitar strings as they are stainless steel (you just have to remove the center wire) . I cut just the right length and bent a coil at both ends and voila, some working return springs! I love using everyday material as much as possible, sometimes we forget to look around us... Don't hesitate to ask if you have any other questions, I'm here to help as much as I can... ? Francis

Thank you Marcos, I am very happy with the result and it was a first for me so it proves that you can surprise yourself sometimes and it is very rewarding! This is one aspect of my builds that has bothered me for years as well, so I will be able to overcome this problem in the future! Francis

Thank you for the kind words and for putting so much pressure on me Ron, you really inspired me my friend! The pivot points are the aluminum rivets that I have machined, they are roughly 0.001" smaller than the holes in the components and around 0.015" taller than 2 parts stacked together. I put a photo etch washer between the 2 parts (the support and arms) and crushed the rivets with my little "Punch Press". I obviously did a test before that to make sure the parts weren't seized and remained operational. I don't know if the opportunity will present itself to go to Uncle Sam's for an exhibition but if it happens, I'll let you know, in the meantime, don't hesitate if you have any questions I will do the same if you don't have no objections!
