  1. Robert, Its a Revell kit. Model master and testors rattle can paint. PPP wheels and tires. Evergreen styrene tubes for the exhaust and roll bars. The 427 engine came out of an AMT 67 Chevy kit. the driver is from the 2006 Revell Dale Earnhardt jr. kit. I had to change the head to an open face helmet add the face and the goggles that were made from clear sprue. I also had to shorten the drivers legs and arms and change the arms to hold the steering wheel closer to the drivers body. The decals are homemade ink jet decals using clear and white testors decal sheets sprayed with testors 1261 clear lacquer to bond the ink. The headers are made from solder. The car qualified seventh at Bristol's spring race and finished sixteenth after mechanical problems took it out. It only looked like this at that one race because it picked up a local sponsor Sherwood Chevy for this race only. This same car though, a few weeks later, finished 3rd at the World 600 in Charlotte with no sponsor on the quarter panels. Thank you for your interest in the model.
  2. If you don't want to buy them you can make your own using small sewing needles. they actually are functional like the real ones. Drill holes in the core support and the hood. Cut off the pointed part of the needle the length you need so the eye of the needle just extends enough when the hood is shut for a fabricated pin from small guage wire can go through the eye of the needle.
  3. Go to this site and look through all of his 60's through 70's pictures . I'm sure I saw one or two of Friday's 66 Chevelle and maybe even his 67 chevelle. He won't allow you to copy and paste them to your files so just take a picture of them right off the monitor screen with your digital camera. http://public.fotki.com/tona/
  4. Great job Slim. I especially like the exhausts.
  5. Excellent job, Ricky. Friday drove Chevy's when they were not very competitive in the period between Smokey's #13 Chevelle and Juniors #3 Monte Carlo that Charlie Glotzbach drove. So for a while he was the best Chevy fans had to root for. Again, Excellent job on it.
  6. 2006 Revell Nascar Chevy kit. Model masters two part lacquer. Powerslide tire decals. D.A.P. decals, two sheets.
  7. Brian, I'm looking forward to doing both of them. Thanks for the props.
  8. Railfreak. The fuel inlet is just a very short section of styrene tube witlled out to have a concave edge and then capped with a small round piece of flat styene sheet. You can get a hole punch deal from micro mark that allows you to punch out diferent sizes. The decals I used on the 88 car I got from Southern Motorsports hobbies. Their link is http://stores.intuitwebsites.com/hstrial-RSetzer/StoreFront.bok The power slide decals I'm waiting for are from Mikes decals. His link is http://www.mikesdecals.com/ The kit is the Revell 2007 Jimmy Johnson kit. Thanks for the props.
  9. Ricky, compared to the movies of today its pretty corny and it was no oscar winner by any means, but things were alot different back then. For a 9 year old boy in 1960 I was pretty impressed. It was the first I had ever seen of a stock car racer and I was hooked. If you can dig up a copy of it some where it is definitely worth a look.I don't know how old you are but if you have ever seen a rerun of "Gilligans Island" the captain of the boat was the Head mechanic for the car in the movie his name is Alan Hale. Also if you have ever seen the old tv show "Mister Ed", a show about a horse that could talk, The wife of the horses owner was the lead actress in "Thunder in Carolina" her name is Connie Hines.
  10. This model depicts the car that Rory Calhoun (Mitch Cooper) drove in the 1960 Movie "Thunder in Carolina" It was filmed during the running of the 1959 Darlington "Southern 500". I saw this movie as a kid and always wanted to build it.
  11. Sounds great. Looking forward to seeing your Rex White 57 Chevy.
  12. rlz58, I am also waiting for thr Danica Powerslide decals. I used Model Masters two part laquer system sublime green and Hugger orange. Purists will tell you its not right because they are not flourescent like the real car but the flourescent paints I tryed are way off and the only way you could get it right is to go to JR motorsports and steal some of their paint.
  13. Just finished this one. My first modern Nascar build.
  14. Actually there is a COT kit coming out by AMT. I have heard that it will only be the Chevy version first. Another problem will be that the kit will have the wing but by midseason they are going back to a spoiler for the COT and so you will have to fabricate your own spoiler to build a current car after mid year. A link about the the COT kit discussion is below. http://randyayersmod...der=asc&start=0
  15. Or maybe they could get rid of the Nascar and drag forums and just have a race car section. Any model with numbers and contengencies would go there.
  16. Great job on the Challenger. The only reason they created the Nascar section was to keep the nascar builds out of the rest of the forum. Since your Challenger was from the SCCA Trans-Am series you did not have to post it here. You might have had more views in the "Under Glass" section. Again awesome job on the Challenger.
