Well Dave that sure is a long time. Yep, you are correct sir, I likely would be better off with enamels and when I first started it is what I used, but Rusto or Krylon spray cans and actually got pretty good results.... and no clear. I'm determined to go the acrylic route. I really think the final finishing after the base coat before clearing is where I have got to do better. And then of course, using a clear that I can perfect. Thanks again Dave. You are always helpful.

I just wanted to take a minute to thank everyone for the responses. A lot of great comments and suggestions and advise.. I clearly need to zero in on a system and practice. You would think after a few years and by my count 22 completed builds and 2 more in progress I'd have it right. Thanks again my Friends!!

So what product is water-based urethane. I actually thought Future is urethane. Am I wrong?

As for using the Future, in the future (no pun intended) I should use a clear that will accept more aggressive finishing but it has to work with acrylics.

Yep, should have used maybe a tack cloth. I did brush it down with a soft paint brush tho. Heck, maybe that's actually how the dust got on.

Maybe not actually bubbles but probably minute dust. I went ahead to tried smoothing the spots with liquid polishing compound but no luck. Maybe it was in the paint but I really don't think so. Anyway, I had a small finger print impression on top of one rear fender and after failing to get it out with just polish I went to to compound and burned thru the Future. I just can't win.

Hi Steve..I kinda lost track of this thread. Thats what I'm talkin' about. The Gremlin wheels are exactly what I need to do. I did think the Smoke would work. So no prep over the chrome, just directly onto the smooth surface?

If I may suggest, if you will use the Createx, get the Createx 4011 Reducer and 4030 Balancing Clear to add to the the mix. The 4030 gives the Pearl a low sheen, helps it flow and prevent tip dry. Both available at HL.

Oh, so you use Createx also!!?? Love the Pearls. Mine is done with them....actually 3 different colors. If you airbrush primers, I recommend the Createx Autoborne Sealer.

Hey there Dave . I always appreciate your input. I really need to get some very tiny I'm guessing dust or bubble spots out. What's interesting is the more the Future dried out the more visable they are. I did'nt see it when the base coat fully cured so it has to be in the Future. I definately don't want to mess it up.

Well David, I started with rattle cans and got some pretty good results and without clear. I decided I wanted to try airbrushing. Started with model car enamels, really only Testors, and I struggled to get acceptable results. Used the Badger 200 and just could not get it to work right. Also, just did not like having to use thinner for clean-up. Just too messy and smelly for me. So I tried craft paint after watching a lot of Dr.Cranky's videos. I still had problems with the Badger but I was able to at least get some decent results. After buying the Mr. Hobby Proton trigger brush my results with the acrylics have definately been better. Love the brush by the way. I stepped up to Createx for the pearl effects and I'm determined for it to be my go-too paint. Now, the clearing is still an issue. I discovered the Rust Crystal Clear Acrylic Lacquer and like it but recently I'm having a checking issue even tho it's the same Createx I've been using. Other than Future, it's the only other clear I have ever used.
