Best airbrush paints for beginners.
TransAmMike replied to FoMoCo66's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Well, in my opinion, to practice with I'd use a quality craft acrylic paint. It's cheap usually under $2.00 for a good size bottle, and comes in many colors. Hobby Lobby, even Wallyworld sells them. I say this, because I see no point in using a more expensive paint that in my opinion takes practice to perfect a quality finish. Just my 2 cents Elliot. -
Very cool TA build. Of course its nice in black...great job?

Question/New Topic for us Oldtimers
TransAmMike replied to TransAmMike's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
Hey there James, I didn't realize you were getting up there in years like me (a gentle way of saying older guy). Thanks? -
Super nice David. Love the colors?

I'm not sure if this is an appropriate topic on here (and Mr. Moderator feel free to delete it)....but I was just curious how old the oldest member on here is and how many real oldtimers are on the forum and are actually active in doing builds. Me, I'm 77 and in reasonably good health with the exception of old arthur in my hands and shoulders but it hasn't stopped me from getting a few builds done throughout the year (ha, tho a bit slowly). I'm currently doing the '55 Chevy Street Machine (not completely out of box) I'd be interested in hearing from y'all?

I was just wondering if resin cast and/or 3D printed parts can be bent for a certain fit. In my case, I have several tube type exhaust headers that are basically useless to me if I can't reshape them. What ya got guys and thanks in advance. Mike

Thanks about the paint. I have tried air brushing the clear with mixed results. At least with acrylic you can wash it right off.

Looks spiffy there my Friend?

As Dan said, the inserts are cloth. The lone exception are the Convertable that has vinyl inserts. Of course this being a Belair coupe, black cloth. And yep, a Matte or even satin finish would be good on the rest of the seats.

OMG Carl, I'm just now seeing this. I fell a couple years ago then again hurting both shoulders and still suffer. Anyway Buddy, I hope you are doing better or OK. Good luck!!

That's a beauty David! The black paint job looks impeccable. The tinted windshield is a nice touch. What did you use? And man, all that chrome. Great job??
-
Both jobs are great Bruce. What paints?

Color is pretty....looks really nice. Probably just the color on the screen but looks more blue than purple , or it's just me. Did you spray the paint right out of the bottle, no thinner?

Did you try to contact him?

Really nice Craig. I actually like the subtle gold on that? -
Well I'm like in the start it and finish it crowd. I only work maybe 2-3 hours 4-5 days a week on a model so it kinda takes me forever to get one done. I used to have 2 maybe 3 at a time but with limited space it got to be too much. Just my 2 cents.

Guess I missed this one...really nice Monte ya got there David?

Yep D J, like "Zippy" said, right up my ally?

Good post there Ryan, such a shame he left us so young. I'm a big Warren Haynes fan.
