  1. I had the pleasure of interacting with them many years ago when I was playing music during a Mardi Gras ball in New Orleans. They were great fun. Kind of discouraging to know I'm just a little younger then them and now they are both gone.?
  2. Thank you all for your suggestions. I do use Molotow for small touchups and with a toothpick. But now I have a new issue....I decided since because of the weather and my impatience to get going on the rear panel, I would forego the clear and use polishing compound on the Tamiya gloss. I got the hood, roof, trunk and passenger side pretty nice and disaster hit. Not a big surprise on my work. I burned thru the the paint on the side ridge behind the door almost to the end of the fender. Oh well, I'm not a fan of stripping paint from a model but I'm guessing it's what I'll be doing.
  3. Great looking models Tony. It's worth a try for me at least. Unfortunately, I getting a bit ahead of myself with doing it. Still need to clear it and this cold and wet weather is keeping me from doing it.
  4. I have never used silly putty. I do some liquid mask but have not used it on a model car. Wow Tony....you did that P-38?? Thats awesome and all BMF covering?? I do have 1/8 Tamiya I could try. An yeah, thre taillights...ugh. I agree with the Molotow pen. I have all the sizes and a refil bottle. I thought the pens were great when I first started using them but have soured on them. Will look into the Gundam markers for sure. Well Greg, It's Tamiya gloss acrylic. First time I have used it. I'm planning to use the Tamiya clear...only the 2d time I will have used it and as the saying goes, "jury's still out" on it.
  5. Thanks guys'. All good suggestions. I'm kinda hesitant to spray the silver. Not sure I can actually get the curves masked good enough. Thought about BMF but like you said David getting it to lay down with all the curves would likely be a problem. Also how could I get it around the taillights? And those taillights? If AMT would have just did seperate lenses. David, how are the Gundam different than the Molotow markers?
  6. Wow, that is some extensive body prep. You have more patience than I could ever have. It surely will have a smooth paint job!!
  7. Good job Hugh?
  8. Well Tim, as usual you have nailed another one. Looks great in all aspects??
  9. I generally just wing it when I do something but I thought I would ask for some suggestions from ya'll. Any ideas on doing rear on it. A real car Here's my victim: What say you? Any and all suggestions will be appreciated!!
  10. I haven't worked much lately for any period of time on my what I call 66 ChevelleSS #2 (re-creation of my long departed 1:1 '66 as it looked after I did mods to it) but today I did manage to get BMF on a lot of the trim.
  11. Man thats lookin' good!!?
  12. Yep....all I can do now is enjoy them as the models I've built.
  13. Nice job Mark....I think there's a saying "pretty in pink"?
  14. Looks great Andy, I do love the black/red color combo!!
  15. Well as you probably know from my posts I actually bought a new '66 ChevelleSS. My wife before we were married owned a '66 GTO 4-speed convertable.
  16. I'm assuming its a 1/24 scale engine??
  17. I'll be the first to welcome you Darren. I too am a muscle car guy who actually was in my 20's during the true muscle car era
  18. Well Gareth, in spite of issues (that I have on everything I build) the '67 came out great looking. Purty in that blue?
  19. Well I used the leveling thinner with it and probably didn't do a proper mix and likely put it on too heavy.... got a lot of orange peel. Was my first use of it. I guess has a learning curve?
  20. Bobby's car looks fantastic as does the factory version. Not that I'm an expert on Bobby (tho was a big fan of all the Bobby and Davey) but I did not know he drove a winged car. Great work Jason.
  21. Ha, I've been using airbrushes for a few years now and still feel like a newbie. I looked up the Crescendo and nothing says what size tip(s) it has. Also. I do prefer a top feed paint cup over the bottom feed.
  22. Joe, you might want to look into this.....GSI Creos Mr. Airbrush Procon Boy PS-290. Spraygunner.com has it on sale for an even $100 and free shipping. It is a trigger type (like an actual spraygun) gravity feed brush. I will say the only issue is the tips are not changable. It has a #5 tip. The Proton 275 has a #3 tip. I cleans up very easily. By the way, I do also have a Paasche H and it does just fine but I just like the trigger on the Proton PS. Good luck with your search for the right one.
  23. Good job Paul, beautiful paint!!?
  24. Another great looking build by you Al?
  25. Wow, great job Jeff. Showed my wife....she said "Nooo, thats not a model?"?
