  1. I use a variety. Everything from Tamiya spray, Dupli-Color touch up paint you get at the parts store, Humbrol enamel, Model Master Enamel & lacquers, Tamiya Acrylic and have recently been experimenting with Revell Acrylic paint. I use either Dupli-Color or Martin Senour lacquer primers on everything before topcoat.
  2. On Model A's, 90% of the enamel stuff was dipped including fenders, wheels, backing plates, etc. All bodies were sprayed in house as well. Here's a couple shots from the Model A Paint & Finish Guide.
  3. Lacquer is probably THE fastest drying paint out there, it dries by oxidation & solvent evaporation. Urethanes require a catalyst which makes the paint more durable, this paint cures by chemical reaction-one of which is isocyanate, the same chemical in super glues. Urethanes are also not susceptible to humidity like lacquer and can be sprayed in any condition provided you use the correct thinner & activator. I painted Antique Cars for years- I still miss PPG's Duracryl and Dupont's Lucite. Base/Clear looks way out of place on a stock 1930s or 40s car! There are several reasons the auto industry quit using lacquer. It's not a durable long term paint for something that sits out in the elements for years and EPA regulations. I can't see any advantage(but always stand to be corrected!) to using 2K urethanes on a build, proper mixing would be an issue. If you spray urethane paint on kits, you better have a darn good ventilation system & respirator, it's nasty stuff.
  4. I don't even worry about a hurricane until it's a strong Cat 3. Being a native Floridian, I've been through a bunch of them! Some of the neighbors & I are getting together tomorrow night for a "tropical storm beer & oyster shindig"
  5. Like Snake pointed out, C-47. Tico Belle flies pretty regularly over the Space Coast area. Owned by Valiant Air Command based in Titusville, FL, the same outfit that recently had an Avenger that ditched in the Atlantic during the Cocoa Beach Air Show earlier this year. Here is a photo of Tico Belle I took at Sun N Fun Airshow a few years ago.
  6. Here's a few more now that I downloaded the card from my Nikon... Spotting that '67 Falcon was a nice surprise, you don't see many Falcons of the 66-70 era.
  7. I noticed that too. Except for the Johan stuff, not much in the way of earth shattering kits. They show the box of 50s Revell car kits, I hope they realize those are all 1990s reissues!
  8. Pretty light month for kits........
  9. I got mine from Model Roundup. Was in a LHS today and they had 4 of the Cal Drag combos on the shelf, Shop owner told me they have been selling real well.
  10. Braver man than I- VW camper on the interstate going through downtown Tampa, FL. Putting along at 50mph....
  11. Nice longroof! Perfect color combination in my opinion........
  12. That last shot is outstanding! The car ain't so bad either!
  13. I really should, my dad was almost totally bald by 40. In hindsight the senior discount ain't so bad either....lol
  14. Went to get my haircut earlier, the girl cutting my hair said "you have a lot of gray hair for someone your age", then upon checkout she gave me the senior discount. I'm only 42.
  15. Happy Birthday and make sure you take pics when you go to the auction! I've always wanted to hit up the January Auction Scene in Scottsdale. B-J, Russo & Steele, the whole works.
  16. Have you looked at Office Depot? I got a very fine point gold paint pen there to redo the spine lettering on an old book. They have silver too.
  17. Should be posted in Reference Photos!
  18. I only watched Golden Girls a few times when it first came out. My mother was big fan of the show so it was on often growing up. What about the spin off Empty Nest? Seems like that show is always overshadowed by the Golden Girls.
  19. I mean the show Benny Hill. The show itself hasn't aged well.
  20. Benny Hill hasn't aged well. Same could be said for Carol Burnett Show. I've watched a few episodes on TV and I just don't find it funny. At all. Maybe it was funnier back when it was a new program, I don't know.
  21. Not all '32s had suicide doors. The Cabriolet, Sport Coupe, Victoria, Convertible Sedan And Tudor Sedan doors opened from the rear.
  22. I've never worked on a '32 Vicky, but the Model A Victoria, the rear seat back is hinged at the bottom. It doesn't open wide maybe a foot, but you can put small stuff there, however it's pretty impractical!
  23. Ford never produced a Victoria with a rear door like that, only Sedan Deliveries and Panel Deliveries got the rear door. Here is a factory body drawing showing the 1933 & 34 Ford Victoria body.
  24. The retired folks usually do pretty good, but you do get the random Granny Seaweed Buick Roadmaster with the back window full of stuffed animals doing 45 on the interstate. Around here, they're more of a problem in city traffic then the interstate.
  25. If you want real excitement- come on down to FL and drive I-4 just south of Orlando. With Disney World, Sea World and the 5000 other "attractions" crammed into a small area makes it interesting. Tourists with no clue where they are going, 2 major toll roads and a state hwy dumping traffic onto a section of interstate that hasn't been expanded since the early 90s and you have a recipe for who knows what will happen! At least you get entertained if sitting in traffic. The worse ones down here are the Dodge truck guys and Jeep drivers. the Dodge boys are trying to outrun everybody, the Jeep guys are in the hammer lane doing 10 under the limit and will not move over. Mall Crawler/BroDozer drivers are aggressive anyways, but the Dodge crew takes it to another level.
