That colour looks fantastic David. -
I agree with. Rice above 👆, you’ve been busy!! Looking really good, and that clear did make a BIG difference. The wire door handles and hinges are very well done sir.

Thank you Racine, much appreciated. Hi Billy, thanks for checking in. I have another pro street build that will be starting soon, it will have a similar look to this. Thank you Donato! I’d love to “scuff” the tires on something like this in 1:1. As mentioned above, my next build (prostreet 67 Beaumont) will have a similar attitude. Stay tuned…

41 Chevy P/U hot rod

Thanks Pat. I seem to have developed a “thing” for matte metallic finishes. Still like polished paint jobs too though… Thank you Gustavo, good to hear from you. -

They all look good Keith, but that little short box really speaks to me. -

Hi TJ, those are very generous words. I will definitely use his builds as inspiration for years to come. It was really cool to hear how many of us have been inspired by him, and shared their stories, and favourite builds on the WIP thread. Thank you Mario! I have some catching up to do on your builds. Thank you Phil. I’m disappointed I can’t attend tonight’s get together, but you will definitely see me and the truck tomorrow! Thank you Rooster. Hi Carl. Thanks for your contributions to the WIP thread. Roger seemed like a really good guy, I wish I had met him in person. You should have a little something arriving in the mail from me soon. Thanks Chris. Thanks Larry! Wow.. thank you very much for the kind words Mike. I know you were a big fan of his builds, so this means a lot coming from you. Roger and I had similar taste, we also both liked diverse subjects. I don’t build at the level he did, but it was rewarding to do this in his honour, and the WIp

Thank you Nigel, nice to hear from you. Hi John, first, thank you for all your contributions in the WIP thread. I think I captured the Merc look, and appreciate you feel the same. Hope you will join in my next build when I get going. Thanks Bruce! Much appreciated Bob. Hoping to start the prostreet build soon… Hello David, thanks for the kind words. Thanks Jeff!

Hi folks, As the title says, this is a tribute to honour Roger Hayes. He was my favourite builder on this site, and his passing really shocked me. Plowboy had an amazing eye for colour, detail, and was an extremely talented builder. His builds were often subtle both in colour, and modifications, almost always understated. If you are new(ish) here, do yourself a favour and search some of his work. His WIP’s always had lots of great tidbits, I learned a ton from him, and am a better builder because of him. I miss him here… RIP Roger, we miss you pal. For my build, I wanted to incorporate a few of Roger’s builds, and meld them together into one. I started with a 60 Ford P/U, converted it to a shortbox/uni-body, lowered it, tucked the bumpers, opened the grill, tapered the hood, removed the quarter windows, blacked out the trim, and added custom decals. There is a rubber bed liner in the box to protect the paint when hauling parts to the speed shop. The interior got bucket seats, a console with cup holders, dash was modified with new gauges and a nav screen, seat belts, arm rests, PE window cranks, and keys in the ignition. paint is Tamiya dull red, Roger’s favourite interior colour. Under the hood I added an engine from the Super Stallion Mustang, 3d printed battery, washer fluid jug and wiper motor, brake master cylinder, and some very basic wiring. Wheels and tires are from the Foose truck, disc brakes from Pegasus. Link to the build thread below which has more about the build, but more importantly some links to Roger’s incredible work. The first 5 photos are of Plowboy’s work, and my inspiration. I wanted the “look” of his 49 Merc, the subject matter of the 60 Ford P/U, engine from the 62, the uni-body style of the 63 P/U, and wanted to include the colour of the Taurus. (Tailgate letters) The shop truck… colour is pearl white, with one coat of pearl clear, followed by matte clear As always, thanks for looking, and all comments welcome. A big thank you to all of you that followed along on the WIP, and took the time to comment, and share your stories, and favourite builds of Plowboy’s. Probably my most enjoyable build thread. Really cool to know how many of you/us were inspired by him. His legacy lives on. Also want to mention Chuck Most, and Al Rich (thatz4you) who both did tribute builds as well. Cheers, Steve

41 Chevy P/U hot rod
Steve H replied to Steve H's topic in Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
Thank you Robert, much appreciated. I like my builds to sit low. Stance is everything… well almost everything. -
My eyes are crossed…. Great work on those hinges Greg! My eyes and hands would not cooperate to do that. They may be a touch out of scale compared to the 1:1, but they look fantastic and don’t look too big by my eye. Excellent stuff.

Thank you Carl! Much appreciated sir. Thanks Bob. I know you like your fat fenders. Well… I’m hoping I can do just that Greg. I have another 41 Chev p/u build planned for this fall. Love these trucks. Now you’ve added some pressure…I better step my game up!😅🥵 Thanks for the kind words. -

Hello Heather! I’m so glad you like it. I think your dad would have loved it for sure. As I said in one of my earlier posts here, I could feel him looking over my shoulder at times during the build. I really enjoyed doing this, and the comments from those following this thread truly show how respected, he was, and how many of us he influenced. It means a lot to me that I can share this with his family. Thank you for taking the time to have look, and I hope you will have time to read all the kind comments other members here had to say about your dad. We all miss his presence. May I also say, I think it is amazing that you decided to join this forum. Your dad is for sure smiling down on you about that.

Thank you kindly John. Really appreciated your support and encouragement on this journey. His memory does indeed live on, and his wonderful creations. I have a somewhat silly build in my head that would also have Roger’s name on it. A custom Porsche tractor with a blown hemi, I’ll get to it one day. I’ll probably have to scratch build a plow for it, just for “Plowboy”… Bob, I think you will approve of the next 2. The shop truck will be a 41 Chev, with some big horsepower under the hood. The Beaumont will have some “big Ol boots” and some big horsepower too.

Wow! Another very nice build Tony. Absolutely stunning. It looks like it’s doing 100mph just sitting there. Clean build, great photography, and I really like the wheel/ tire combo, well played.

Thank you John, and as I have said, I appreciate all your comments here. He was an artist, and as you said, an incredibly talented builder. So glad you took the time to look at his work. Hi Bob, thank you sir. It doesn’t have the fat fenders you like, but it is (in my opinion) a cool shop truck. I will be doing a fat fendered shop truck with my name on it later this year. Need to build a pro street Beaumont first though…

If you use metric, 1mm equals 1” in 1:1 scale. 0.5 mm=half inch etc. Easy peasy. Maybe not EXACT, but verrrrrry close.

Revell's Peterbilt 359: WIP
Steve H replied to David G.'s topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
Hi David, really good solution for the back cab wall, and it is quite visible, so worth the extra effort. It’s coming together very nicely. I have used AS 10 for interiors as well, good choice with the blue exterior. -
Hi Brian, the nav antenna was a late addition, I almost forgot to add it. It was a special build for me, thanks for your contributions. Thank you David. It felt good building it, and I am happy with the end result. Not my best, or most detailed build, but it looks good, and I hope captured the feel of Roger’s 49 Merc, blended with the 60 Ford.

Great Progress John. The weathering is excellent, seems like the more the pieces come together, the better it all looks. Those Frenzel superchargers are cool.
