Oops… forgot to add one photo It is now officially Roger’s truck…. The truck has been cleared now with matte clear. I will share a photo in the sun when the sun appears again… The paint looks kinda blah here, but it has a nice shimmer to it in sun.

Interior in progress… The door cards were modified a bit to add some depth. I obviously was not aiming to replicate a stock interior in any way. Used photo etch for window crank and door handle, added a “knob” on the window crank. Decided to use the piston logo on the interior as well. Shifter is a bent shirt pin with a styrene knob. The cup holders are boot lace ferrules. The dash still needs some work as you can see, but it’s coming along. I have a few touch ups to do, seat belts will be added, the pedals are ready to install, and photo etch speakers added to the doors, on the dash I made my own tweeters using some mesh and gauge bezels. Better photos of those later… Thanks for having a look!

Really nice work John. This is going to be a very nice build when completed, albeit a bit rusty… and dirty… but also beautiful! Great stuff. -

Yes sir! You know I’ll be following along Luke. Nice engine swap, and lowwwwwwwwww… Excellent stuff. -
Hi all, So, this is basically a repost of my 41 Chevy pickup but with all new photos. I haven’t figured out editing an old post. To recap, it is 11 scale inches shorter, 4 1/2” in front of the rear wheels, 6 1/2” behind. I swapped out the straight six and added a blown 409 with scratch built intake and side drafts. Parts box wheels and tires, carbon fibre decals used on the rear bumper and for the bed. Stance has been lowered, and aluminum tubing for exhaust tips. The interior has a fabric seat cover. The paint is metallic red with matte clear. Not a new build, so some of you have already seen this. Hope you don’t mind the repost… This truck has quite a few miles on it, which shows. It’s been to California for NNL west, Washington state, more locally Vancouver, as well as a couple of local shows… I’m posting this partly because I will be building another one of these in the coming year. Pretty sure I can do a little better next time…

Great looking little truck Bob. Good save after the headlight mishap, your patience definitely paid off. The purple colour is an excellent choice, and that Iceman engine awesome. -
Hi David, and welcome to the forum. I cut the barrels off of some deep dish wheels that I was never going to use, and added them to the rallye’s. Made for some good looking “factory” wheels. Hi Vince, judging by the number of posts, looks you are new here too. Welcome aboard! Thanks for the kind words, I think these cars make awesome looking pro street cars. I’ll be starting a new pro street build soon…

Very nice work David. Your attention to detail, and scratch building is outstanding.

Anton, I’m convinced it’s something to do with the gravitational pull in the land down under.😂 That, and …. well, Luke seems to maybe know what he’s doing. Consistently crazy beautiful paint Luke, it’s fun to watch sir.

Thanks Greg, it’s cool finally seeing them on a truck. So my first several attempts at the last post had more info on the decals and such, but I had to cut it wayyyyyy short to be able to post. Obviously still some issues on the board. The decals are fantastic! The carrier film is very thin, and crystal clear, but they seem quite “strong”. I played with them a bit, and no issues with tearing. So in those photos they have not been cleared, just a small amount of micro set. I will be clearing over them with matte clear. Thank you Carl. It is definitely taking shape now. Thanks Topher I’m glad you approve TJ. Like I mentioned, I had this build in mind when I ordered the decals and was hoping I would be able to modify them successfully. The quality of the decals made it easy to pull off. Super pleased with how they look. Thank you all for having a look, and taking the time to share your thoughts. I’m really enjoying this build, and excited to get it finished. Hoping for another update soon on the interior.

1941 Willy's Pickup
Steve H replied to Zippi's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
Coming together really nice Bob! For the headlights, lots of options including what Bruce said above 👆. I believe there is at least one thread on the various approaches to dealing with the chrome lenses. It’s either in the question section, or tips and tutorials… I apologize if I missed it, but where are the gauge decals from? Really like those. -

Looks great lifted Topher. The open grill looks good too. -
I have been doing a LOT of masking, painting… more masking, painting… more…ya, I definitely broke the budget on masking tape. One of the reasons I posted the link to Plowboy’s Taurus build, was to show the colour. When I started this build, I really wanted to tie that colour in somewhere, as it was a colour Roger and I had both used. I decided on using it for the FORD letters on the tailgate. Painted in metallic red, which will get matte clear along with the rest of the truck. Not super happy with how they turned out, but also not terrible. I will do a bit of clean up on them before clear. Most of the interior is now painted, I need to do a bit more work on those parts before an update. There has been some progress…

Ok, let’s try this for a fifth time…. I’ll try to keep this very short. This is the post I have really been looking forward to posting. Got the final coat of pearl white, and one coat of pearl clear on the truck. Then it was decal time! Custom decals I had made by STS decals last year, modified to accommodate this build. (Something I had planned when I ordered the decals) The “1968” is my birth year, Roger was born in 66, so that needed to be addressed… I’m extremely pleased to finally see the decals on this truck, something I’ve had in my head for 2 years. The STS decals lay down very nicely, highly recommend them. This is my 5th time trying to post this, very frustrating. As always, thanks for having a look.

Holden LX A9X Torana! I love that thing. I had not seen one of those before. Is it another DDA kit? It’s interesting watching other people’s build process. I always leave final paint as long as I can in a build, for fear of damaging the finish during construction. Many others, like yourself, paint first. I do think however, that seeing the painted body on the desk, would be good motivation to finish a build…🤔 Your paintwork is always spectacular Luke. Look forward to watching all the progress in whatever order you choose mate. Cheers, Steve

Cool thread David, I think I may play along here. Last year I built a replica of my brother in law’s car. I decided to go down a rabbit hole or two on some interior details. I added a high beam switch, made an 8 track player with a cassette, seat belt retractors, a parking brake release, seat adjustment levers (forward/back, and keys in the ignition. The high beam switch was… well just for fun. Ohhh, and the button to open the console. Fun thread David!

Wow! Excellent build Gustavo. I have one of these in the stash waiting patiently… Your paint and foil work is very tidy. Did you polish the “glass”, looks really good. -
Hi Brian, no build thread for this one. It was built before I joined the forum, and before I did any in progress photos of my builds. It’s posted “under glass” here somewhere, but stay tuned, I think I’ll be cheeky and get some fresh/better photos and bump the thread.
