    Thanks Rich! I custom mixed and airbrushed mine as well. Waterborne paint... I used gold metallic and lots of chrome yellow. Attached is a pic. Very early stages after paint and polish.

    Hi Rich, I enjoyed looking at the two Gt40’s. Good job on the handmade graphics and the seat grommets. The cars look real nice! I am currently trying to replicate the ‘66 GT40 gold #5 car that took 3rd in the LeMans and noticed that the seat grommets are a real booger! I may try the pen method.

    Thank you so much Trevor! I’ve been mixing my own colors for the first time and was going for Guardsman Blue. Funny thing is, nobody truly knows exactly how to mix that color because back in the day the painters at Shelby kept no specific formula for how their colors were mixed, and the cars were painted over and over, so in some races you might have seen three different Cobras with three different shades of “Guardsman Blue”, so for me the color turned out pretty well. The clearcoat, like the paint is waterborne and comes out pretty dull, but I just polished it up a bit until I thought the sheen had kind of a vintage patina. Thank you for noticing!

    Nice clean work on the paint, details and decals Pete! ...Yes those Calsonic Skylines were ferocious! Would love to take one on the Nurburgring!?

    Thank you! That’s awesome! I’d love to see it when it’s finished. Hopefully you’ll post pics of it here. I’ve come to realize I get a lot of joy and satisfaction out of mixing my own colors, problem is however, I can get quite lost in it sometimes. Good luck on your Gumball Rally build!

    Thank you vamach1 for noticing all the details. It’s always fun trying to replicate certain ideas from your mind’s eye. Things like brake dust grime on wheels, or the burnt look of exhaust pipes. There is literally an endless world of experimentation possibilities in this hobby. I’m sure I’ll be learning a lot from the awesome talents of the many others on this site!... Oh, and yes, the pics you posted are actually some of the very ones I found on the web and drew inspiration from. Again thanks!

    Thanks iBorg! The last ten years have been a mixture of a lot of stressful events followed up with summers spent riding my bike for as many miles as possible to un-stress. Problem was, the long, cold winters were filled with boredom, and the only model that I ever kept from years gone by was also a Revell Cobra, and though I didn’t put near the amount of time and detail into it, I always liked looking at it. Then, one winter evening I watched the movie Ford vs Ferrari, and that was it! I decided to order up some Shelby models off eBay and do a Shelby collection. This Cobra is the first one so far... I’ve got a ‘66 GT40, another Revell Cobra, and two Revell GT-350 Mustangs coming up. EVENTUALLY. I’ve included a pic of the Cobra that I kept for all those years
