Thank you very much Pete for the fine compliment... It did take me quite a bit of fussing to get the paint mix just right.- 47 replies

Black cars cleared with Pledge Future Shine
Venom replied to Venom's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Beautifully explained Trevor... thank you so much for this detailed input! I thought this topic was going to be a matter of seeing is believing, but as you so eloquently explained, it’s actually much more than that. Now I am convinced beyond any hesitation that this product is not for me. BTW; I love the Lotus quote...it’s an accurate statement that’s even evident while virtually driving one in Gran Turismo! -

Hi Peter... I love these little Lotus four bangers...Awesome cars! You did a really excellent, clean job on this. Beautiful work! Added note: I like the backdrop as well. I’m not always a fan of details in the background, but yours is tasteful, simple and authentic looking... goes well with that era of car.

Jason, I think this car turned out absolutely beautiful... Great, clean job in it! What did you use for clearcoat on it?
-
Wel, it’s waaaaaaay easier than cleaning off enamels

I’ve always felt that Porsche’s and Cobras had a certain distinct similarity between them.... part raw beast, part liquid beauty. -

Just saw this for the first time Tim... Absolutely exquisite!!! Additionally, I’d like to say, I sure hope you have these insured because this really is art. The painstaking attention to detail is marvelous, and I can only imagine the amount of thought and time you put into your work. I am in amazement when I look at your creations. Thank you!

Wow Mike! That is really awsome...the engine detail is very well done with the wiring, distributor plugs/wires. Nicely finished! There seems to be more than a few of us just coming off of 10 year dry spells, as I too am one of them...So, welcome back?

I can’t help you there. I use sandpaper... and not on the paint, only on the clear

Please post pics of any models, ( black & dark colors only), that you’ve clearcoated using “Future” floor polish, aka “Pledge Future Shine”. Please mention what method of application you used; brush, spray on, etc. As it seems many people swear by this product, it would be helpful, for those of us who know nothing about it, to see finished results so that we can judge for ourselves. I asked for black and dark colors since those are the most difficult to to get looking flawless. THANKS!

That was somebody else who said that.

The Createx (clear) cannot be washed off with water
-
Use the clear you want... I just appreciate how workable the Createx clear is, but that’s just me

I looked at your pics of the gold painted car body Mike. They aren’t the most clear pics, but from what I CAN see, I’d say it’s time to spray the Createx clear over it. Maybe do three to four coats and then wet sand it... The “flecks” could probably be popped off (before you clear it) with the tip of a #11 blade, and then filled in with paint with a fine detail brush... But if you are dissatisfied with the way the paint looks now, just take it to the sink and spray it down with lots of Windex and clean it with a toothbrush and repaint it. It’s surprizingly easy as long as you haven’t cleared it yet. I did that twice on the Cobra I posted on this thread before I decided to clear it. It also helped me learn the paints properties better. My opinion with the Createx is that all the sanding should be done AFTER clear... If it’s so rough that it needs sanded before clear, then something needs to improve with the spraying method/technique. In my experience, dry sanding the paint causes little balls of paint to form and roll around under the paper, and even when that doesn’t happen it seems to dull the paint in the sanded area and look blemished.

Ok that’s it... I’m gonna make my own mold! I mean, finally a way to get rich!

That’s awesome Gary, looks just like the real thing. Wish I could find knock-offs like those. -
Well, I just made a $100 offer on a Gunze Daytona kit on eBay and got turned down? After $50 shipping, I can’t see myself offering any more than that... Guess it’ll be there for the big dogs

Hey Marcos, beautiful Chevelle! I love your color choice and the engine detail is very nicely done! Also, thanks for telling us where you got some of those aftermarket parts...I’ll be looking into them?
